YCM FP100A — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the YCM FP100A that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from YCM or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

For molds that weigh up to a tonne, YCM offers the FP100A: a double-column, high-speed machining center with travels of 1,020 mm (40.16 in) in X, 710 mm (27.95 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.11 in) in Z. The spindle is a 16,000 rpm BBT40 unit with 37 kW (50 hp).

The table, 1,200 x 700 mm (47.24 x 27.56 in), takes 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) and rests fully on the base with no overhang at either end of its stroke. Above it, the gantry frame is made of dual wall castings with 1,320 mm (51.97 in) between the columns, and the headstock is a symmetrical box. YCM adds a brake to the Z axis for fine control of the head.

Finishing quality is the stated aim. According to YCM the spindle can run tools smaller than 0.2 R, the tiny ball-nose cutters used for sharp internal corners and fine detail. To hold size during long runs it has automatic oil cooling, micro oil-air lubrication and a constant preload arrangement. Position feedback comes from encoders of 4 million pulses per revolution on every axis.

A 20,000 rpm spindle with 22 kW (30 hp) is the single option. The magazine has 24 pockets for tools up to 6 kg (13 lb), and no larger magazine is listed. Rapids are 20 m/min and cutting feed reaches 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm). At 12,000 kg (26,455 lb), the FP100A is heavy for its travels, which is what a finishing machine should be.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size mold fits the FP100A?

The table is 1,200 x 700 mm (47.24 x 27.56 in) and carries 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Travels are 1,020 mm (40.16 in) in X, 710 mm (27.95 in) in Y and 460 mm (18.11 in) in Z, with 150~610 mm (5.91~24.02 in) from spindle nose to table.

02 What spindle does it use?

An isolated direct drive BBT40 spindle at 16,000 rpm with 37 kW (50 hp). A 20,000 rpm spindle with 22 kW (30 hp) is optional. It has automatic oil cooling, micro oil-air lubrication and a floating cylinder for tool clamping.

03 How is the frame built?

It is a gantry frame of rigid dual wall castings with a symmetrical box headstock. The worktable is fully supported on the machine base to eliminate overhang, and the distance between columns is 1,320 mm (51.97 in).

04 How does it compare with the FP66A?

The FP66A is the smaller machine, with 660 mm (25.98 in) of X, 510 mm (20.08 in) of Y, a 500 kg (1,102 lb) table and a weight of 8,000 kg (17,637 lb). The FP100A has 1,020 mm (40.16 in) of X, a 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) table and weighs 12,000 kg (26,455 lb).
