FANUC Robodrill D74C — price

Est.$90,000 - $140,000

This is our best estimate for a machine of this type and class, built from published prices of comparable vertical machining centers (vmc) and typical dealer pricing. FANUC has not published a list price for the FANUC Robodrill D74C that we can cite. Treat it as a planning number, not a quote.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training

Overview

With 700 mm of X travel over 400 mm of Y, the FANUC Robodrill D74C is the long-bed shape of vertical machining center: the working area is 75% wider than it is deep. Z is selectable at 400 mm or 330 mm and the control is the Series 31i-B Plus.

That proportion suits long, narrow parts and rows of small ones. A bar, rail or extrusion can lie along X, or several vises can stand side by side, but nothing deeper than the 400 mm of Y can be covered in one setup. Where depth matters more, the Robodrill α-D14LiBADV Plus Y500 is listed with 500 mm of Y on the same 700 mm of X.

The magazine and spindle are open choices. FANUC lists a servo driven turret for 14, 21 or 28 tools and a spindle driven turret for 14 or 21. Spindles are grouped by top speed: 10000 min-1 (Basic, High-torque), 12000 min-1 (High-acceleration, Tapping) and 24000 min-1 (High-speed). On a 700 mm bed carrying several fixtures, the 28-tool turret is the one that lets different parts share a setup without reloading tools.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 700 mm of X travel, 75% more than the 400 mm of Y, for long parts or several fixtures in a row
  • Up to 28 tools on the servo driven turret, enough to keep tooling for more than one part loaded
  • Z can be specified at 400 mm or 330 mm
  • Spindle options reach 24000 min-1 (High-speed) or stay at 10000 min-1 with the High-torque type

Limitations

  • Y travel is 400 mm; the 500 mm Y is listed on the Robodrill α-D14LiBADV Plus Y500, not on this model
  • The spindle driven turret is limited to 14 or 21 tools
  • No table load is listed for the D74C, which matters on a long bed that invites multiple vises; confirm it before planning fixtures
06

Best For

Long, narrow parts such as rails and extrusions up to 700 mm in X Multi-vise setups arranged in a row along the 700 mm axis Mixed part families that need 28 tools on the servo driven turret Drill-and-tap work on the 12000 min-1 Tapping spindle

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the work envelope of the Robodrill D74C?

X travel is 700 mm and Y travel is 400 mm. Z is selectable at 400 mm or 330 mm. The envelope is long, not deep, so it favours parts laid along X or several small fixtures set side by side.

02 Is there a Robodrill with more Y travel than the D74C?

Yes. The Robodrill α-D14LiBADV Plus Y500 is listed with 700 mm of X, 500 mm of Y and 400 mm of Z, against the 400 mm of Y on the D74C. Both are listed with the Series 31i-B Plus control family.

03 Which spindle should I choose on the Robodrill D74C?

Pick by the tools you run. FANUC lists Basic and High-torque spindles at 10000 min-1, High-acceleration and Tapping spindles at 12000 min-1 and a High-speed spindle at 24000 min-1. Small cutters in aluminium want the top speed; larger drills and face mills point to the High-torque type.
