How much does the AWEA LP-2516YF cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-2516YF that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA LP-2516YF is the entry size of the LP-F range, the version of the LP bridge machine prepared for 5-face work. Travels are 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in X, 1,900 mm (74.8 in) in Y and 760 mm (29.9 in) in Z, over a 2,310 x 1,500 mm (90.9 x 59.1 in) table that carries 8,000 kg (17,637 lb).
Set it beside the plain LP-2516 and three rows change. Y is 1,900 mm where the LP-2516 lists 1,600 mm (63.0 in), although the columns still stand 1,700 mm (66.9 in) apart. The spindle nose sits higher, 400 ~ 1,160 mm (15.7 ~ 45.7 in) above the table where the LP-2516 lists 240 ~ 1,000 mm (9.4 ~ 39.4 in). And the magazine can grow to 60 or 90 tools, where the LP-2516 stops at 40. All three make sense for a machine that hangs an angle head under the ram: the head needs room below the nose, the ram has to travel past the part to bring a horizontal tool onto its side faces, and a second set of tools is needed for that head.
AWEA describes the hardware as an automatic head changer with a vertical / horizontal ATC system. The head storage magazine has two cabinets, one for the horizontal head and one for the spindle cap, each behind its own swing door that opens only during an exchange. The LP series "can be equipped" with this, in the maker's words, so confirm what is included when the machine is quoted.
The standard spindle runs to 6,000 rpm on a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor, with direct drive 8,000 / 10,000 rpm units as options. As the shortest model it also holds the tightest VDI figures of the group: P ≤ 0.020 mm over full travel and Ps ≤ 0.015 mm repeatability.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y travel against the 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of the LP-2516, on the same 1,700 mm (66.9 in) column spacing
- 400 ~ 1,160 mm (15.7 ~ 45.7 in) from spindle nose to table leaves room for a milling head under the ram
- 32-tool magazine with 60 and 90 tools listed as options
- VDI positioning of P ≤ 0.020 mm over full travel, the tightest in the LP-16 YF group
- X and Y both rapid at 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm)
Limitations
- The spindle nose comes no closer than 400 mm (15.7 in) to the table, so short vertical tools on low parts need risers or long holders
- The table is 2,310 mm long, shorter than the 2,500 mm X stroke
- Standard speed is 6,000 rpm; the 8,000 / 10,000 rpm direct drive spindles are options
- Table load stops at 8,000 kg (17,637 lb), the lowest of the group

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table, load, X travel and Z travel are the same. This machine has 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y, a spindle nose range of 400 ~ 1,160 mm, magazine options of 60 and 90 tools, a 680 liter coolant tank and a weight of 26,500 kg (58,422 lb). The LP-2516 lists 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of Y, 240 ~ 1,000 mm (9.4 ~ 39.4 in) at the nose, a 40-tool option, 420 liter of coolant and 26,000 kg (57,319 lb).
02
The table lists 1,900 mm of Y travel and 1,700 mm between the columns, and AWEA does not comment on it. On a 5-face machine the ram must move beyond the edge of the workpiece so that a horizontal head can face inward and reach the side. The part itself still has to pass between the columns and sit on a table 1,500 mm wide.
03
It can be. With the spindle at the bottom of its 760 mm (29.9 in) stroke the nose is still 400 mm (15.7 in) above the table. A face mill on a short holder will not reach a thin plate lying on the table. Tools may be up to 400 mm long, but for flat work it is simpler to raise the part on parallels or a sub-plate.
04
AWEA describes an automatic head storage magazine with two cabinets, one for the horizontal head and one for the spindle cap. The exchange slides on linear guide ways, and each cabinet has its own swing door that opens only while a head is being exchanged, which AWEA says keeps contamination out of the storage.
05
For the 6,000 rpm high torque spindle AWEA states a 26 kW motor and a maximum of 642 N-m at 387 rpm, through a 2-speed gear box. The optional direct drive spindles reach 8,000 or 10,000 rpm and give a maximum of 165 N-m at 1,500 rpm, so they suit finishing and lighter cuts.
