Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Palmary PCB-6050 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Palmary PCB-6050 is one of the two largest CNC centerless grinders Palmary lists, with a Ø610 mm grinding wheel 510 mm wide driven by a 50 HP (37 kW) motor. It grinds Ø1 to Ø150 mm and weighs 13,000 kg (28,660 lb).
The weight tells the story: almost twice that of the PCB-6040 for a wheel about a quarter wider. A half-metre wheel makes very large grinding forces in infeed, and the frame, the double support spindle and the regulating wheel assembly are scaled up to hold size along the whole length. The regulating wheel is Ø405 mm by 510 mm, on a 254 mm bore, with a 5 kW (6.7 hp) servo.
Wheel speed is given as 40 m/s, with 45 m/s (8,858 ft/min) as an option, a little lower as standard than on the smaller PCB machines. Regulating wheel tilt is ±5° and swivel ±2°. Dressing is by single point as standard, with a diamond roller device optional.
Several rows of Palmary's table are empty for this model, including the dresser offset, the slides and the spindle lubrication tank, so the published data is thinner than for the smaller machines. The feed slide is described as a hand scraped V and flat, and grinding wheel spindle lubrication as oil mist. CNC control from 1 to 6 axes is offered, with a FANUC controller. A grinding wheel exchanger and jib crane are optional, and worth having with a wheel of this size.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It weighs 13,000 kg (28,660 lb). The grinding wheel is Ø610 x 510 mm on a 355.6 mm bore and the regulating wheel Ø405 x 510 mm on a 254 mm bore. No floor dimensions are given on the page.
02
The table gives a linear velocity of 40 m/s as standard with 45 m/s (8,858 ft/min) as an option. The grinding wheel motor is 50 HP (37 kW), 4-pole.
03
The standard grinding range is Ø1 to Ø150 mm, the same as the PCB-6030. The difference is wheel width and power: 510 mm and 50 HP (37 kW) here, against 305 mm and 30 HP (22 kW) on the PCB-6030.
04
Yes. The PCB-6060 has a Ø610 x 610 mm grinding wheel and a Ø405 x 610 mm regulating wheel. Its motor and listed weight are the same as those of the PCB-6050 in Palmary's table.
