Overview
With 600 mm (23.6 in) between centers, the Palmary OCD-3260 is the middle length of the OCD-32 CNC cylindrical grinders and the one Palmary pictures on the series page. Swing over the table is Ø320 mm (12.6 in), maximum grinding diameter Ø300 mm (11.8 in), and the centers carry 150 kg (331 lb).
What separates it from its siblings is bed length and little else. The table stroke grows to 900 mm (35.4 in), compared with 665 mm (26.2 in) on the OCD-3240, while the wheelhead stroke stays at 260 mm (10.2 in). The workhead servo motor is still 1 kW (1.3 hp); it is the OCD-32100 that steps up to 1.5 kW (2.0 hp). Weight rises to 3,600 kg (7,937 lb).
A general-purpose grinder lives or dies by its wheel spindle. Here it is alloy steel, carburized and sub-zero treated according to Palmary, and it runs in hybrid hydro-static bearings.
