Overview
The Amada MEISTER 45 is the compact model in Amada’s MEISTER G3/V3 series of high-precision forming grinders. With simultaneous 2-axis plus 1-axis NC control, it delivers the same class of accuracy as the larger MEISTER 52 but in a smaller package suited to smaller tooling components.
The MEISTER 45 handles workpieces up to 350 x 150 x 100 mm with axis travels of 500 mm (traverse), 200 mm (cross), and 400 mm (vertical). The 2.2 kW wheel spindle drives grinding wheels up to 205 x 15 x 31.75 mm. Like the MEISTER 52, it features high-speed table reciprocation and an optical linear scale with 0.05 μmm resolution on the vertical axis.
The smaller envelope makes the MEISTER 45 particularly well-suited for grinding small forming punches, precision inserts, and die components in the sub-150mm size range. New systems typically price between $170,000 and $280,000.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Compact footprint fits tight tool rooms while delivering MEISTER-level precision
- Optical linear scale with 0.05 μmm resolution matches the larger MEISTER 52
- Same 2+1 axis NC control as MEISTER 52 for complex profiles
- Lower entry price makes high-precision forming grinding accessible
- 2.2 kW spindle provides adequate power for roughing and finishing
- High-speed table reciprocation for aggressive stock removal with quality finish
Limitations
- Smaller 350 x 150 x 100 mm capacity limits to smaller tooling components
- Narrower wheel specification (205 x 15 mm max width) vs MEISTER 52
- No automated loading option -- manual handling only limits batch throughput
- Shorter 500 mm traverse (vs 600 mm) may constrain some applications

Frequently Asked Questions
01
MEISTER 45 has smaller capacity (350 x 150 mm vs 400 x 200 mm) and shorter traverse (500 mm vs 600 mm). Both share 2.2 kW spindle, 0.05 μmm resolution, and 2+1 axis NC.
02
MEISTER 45 runs $170K-$280K vs $200K-$320K for the MEISTER 52.
03
No. The MEISTER 45 does not offer ATC/workpiece stocker. Consider the MEISTER 52UP for automated forming grinding.
04
Small forming punches, precision die inserts, stamping die components fitting within 350 x 150 x 100 mm.
