Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Drake GS:TI670 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Drake GS:TI670 is the large-swing internal thread grinder in the GS:TI range: 670 mm (26.4 in) over the table, with 4 CNC axes and a maximum internal grind length of 190 mm (7.5 in). It is for internal threads in parts that are big on the outside, such as large rings and housings.
The thread itself is no longer than on the smaller machines. Grind length is the same 190 mm (7.5 in) that Drake lists for the GS:TI280, and the standard wheel is still ≤100 mm (3.9 in) in outside diameter. What grows is clearance. A buyer who needs a deeper thread, not a wider part, gains nothing from the larger swing.
The extra swing raises the work. Workholding height is 1.3 m (51.2 in) above the floor, against 1.1 m (43.3 in) above the floor on the GS:TI280, and large parts are heavy, so loading deserves thought. The workhead keeps the A2-8 nose and a speed of up to 300 rpm continuous. Weight is 7,150 kg (15,763 lb) on the range's common 2.2 m W x 2.7 m D (86.6 in x 106.3 in) footprint.
Drake's external range has a machine of matching swing, the GS:TE670-750, at 670 mm (26.4 in). A plant that grinds both the screw-side and nut-side forms of large parts can keep the two on the same part family. Supply for the internal machine is 200-600 V at 30-45 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 670 mm (26.4 in) of swing over the table, the largest of the internal grinders
- No larger on the floor than the GS:TI280: 2.2 m W x 2.7 m D (86.6 in x 106.3 in)
- Matches the swing of the external GS:TE670-750
- Rapid return of up to 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) on linear motors
- Dresser rolls of 115-152 mm (4.5-6.0 in) diameter, up to 32 mm (1.3 in) wide
Limitations
- Internal grind length is still 190 mm (7.5 in) despite the larger swing
- Workholding height of 1.3 m (51.2 in) above the floor is the highest in the GS:TI range
- Workhead speed is up to 300 rpm continuous
- Part weight capacity is not stated in the brochure

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The maximum swing over the table is 670 mm (26.4 in). The maximum internal grind length is 190 mm (7.5 in). Drake does not publish a part weight limit in the brochure, so give the part and fixture weight when asking for a proposal.
02
No. The maximum internal grind length is 190 mm (7.5 in), the same as Drake lists for the GS:TI280 and GS:TI400. The standard wheel range is also unchanged at ≤100 mm (3.9 in) outside diameter and 5-20 mm (0.2-0.8 in) wide.
03
Workholding height is 1.3 m (51.2 in) above the floor. That is higher than the GS:TI400, which is listed at 1.2 m (47.2 in) above the floor, so check it against your loading method.
04
Approximate weight is 7,150 kg (15,763 lb), on overall dimensions of 2.2 m W x 2.7 m D (86.6 in x 106.3 in). The GS:TI400 weighs 6,850 kg (15,101 lb) on the same footprint.
05
Total electrical requirements are 30-45 kVA on a 200-600 V supply. Wheel spindle power is listed as various, so the final connected load depends on the spindle chosen.
