Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Vollmer CM 200 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Vollmer CM 200 grinds the complete tooth geometry of TCT circular saw blades for metal cutting, tops and faces, on blades from 200 to 840 mm (7.9 to 33.1 in) in outer diameter. It is a production grinder for blade manufacturers, with 9 CNC axes and a weight of approx. 4,700 kg (10,362 lb).
Most saw sharpeners swivel the grinding head to change from face to top. This one does not. Vollmer fixes the grinding aggregate and gives the machine two main spindles carrying up to 3 grinding wheels between them, with the measuring system in the middle. A head that never swivels has no pivot to deflect, which is the maker's argument for the accuracy of the ground surface. The cost is mass: the machine weighs several times what a workshop sharpener does.
Spindle 1 takes a 125 mm (4.9 in) wheel and spindle 2 wheels from 80 to 200 mm (3.1 to 7.9 in), both on 32 mm (1.3 in) bores and both running from 1,600 to 5,500 rpm. A separate chip breaker wheel has a 50 mm (2.0 in) bore. Blades can be up to 15 mm (0.59 in) thick, far beyond a woodworking blade, with tooth pitches from 6 to 180 mm (0.24 to 7.1 in) and bores from 16 to 200 mm (0.63 to 7.9 in).
Hook angle runs from -35° to +20°, which matters for metal: negative faces are normal on cold saws. The negative tooth face can also be bevelled up to 30°. A standard measuring probe records cutting width, body width and hook angle. The brochure describes operation control based on Windows XP, so ask what the current build ships with. Services needed are approx. 5.6 kVA and 6 to 10 bar (87 to 145 psi) of air.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Fixed, non-swivelling grinding aggregate with 2 main grinding spindles and up to 3 grinding wheels
- Hook angles from -35° to +20° cover the negative faces used on metal-cutting blades
- Takes blades up to 15 mm (0.59 in) thick with bores up to 200 mm (7.9 in)
- Measuring probe is standard and measures the complete tooth geometry
- Chip breaker grooves are ground on the same machine with a dedicated wheel
Limitations
- Largest blade is 840 mm (33.1 in); the CM 300 goes to 1,440 mm (56.7 in)
- Smallest blade is 200 mm (7.9 in), so small-diameter saws are outside the range
- No side grinding: tooth flanks need a separate machine such as the CMF 200
- At approx. 4,700 kg (10,362 lb) it needs a proper foundation and rigging plan
- The brochure names Windows XP as the basis of the operation control

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Circular saw blades from 200 to 840 mm (7.9 to 33.1 in) in outer diameter, with bores from 16 to 200 mm (0.63 to 7.9 in), a blade thickness of up to 15 mm (0.59 in) and a tooth pitch between 6 and 180 mm (0.24 to 7.1 in).
02
No. It grinds tops and faces, including bevels and chip breaker grooves. Vollmer's machine for the side grinding of TCT circular saw blades in the same diameter range is the CMF 200, which uses a cup grinding wheel on blades from 200 to 840 mm (7.9 to 33.1 in).
03
Hook angle from -35° to +20° and clearance angle from 0° to 25°. Bevel grinding goes up to 45° on the tooth top and up to 30° on the tooth face and on the negative tooth face. The table gives the tooth height difference as any amount.
04
The clearance surface machining length is up to 40 mm (1.6 in) and the chip surface machining length up to 25 mm (0.98 in). Those two figures bound the tip size the machine can cover in one pass on top and face.
05
A total connected load of approx. 5.6 kVA, compressed air at 6 to 10 bar (87 to 145 psi) and room for a coolant tank of approx. 220 l. Vollmer says it grinds with either oil or emulsion. The machine weighs approx. 4,700 kg (10,362 lb).
