How much does the Modig RigiMill MT cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Modig RigiMill MT that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Modig RigiMill MT comes in three lengths: X travel of 2,500, 4,500 or 6,500 mm (100, 180 or 260 in), for parts up to 2,000, 4,000 or 6,000 mm (80, 160 or 240 in) long. It is a 3-, 4- or 5-axis machining center with Z travel of 820 mm (32 in) and a choice of 1,560 or 2,000 mm (61 or 79 in) in Y.
In each size the X travel is longer than the longest part, which leaves the spindle room beyond both ends of the workpiece. Width works differently. Maximum part width is listed once, as 1,400 mm (55 in), although Y travel comes in two values. A buyer choosing the 2,000 mm (79 in) Y should ask Modig what part width that version takes, because the table does not give a second figure.
Spindle selection splits by material. For aluminum there is a spindle of up to 30,000 rpm and up to 200 kW (272 hp) S1, and Modig puts the removal rate in aluminum at 1,200 cubic inches/min (19.7 liters/min). For hard metals the spindle covers 0-12,000 rpm with 500-2,500 Nm (370-1,845 ft-lbs) S1, and the titanium removal rate is 55 cubic inches/min (0.9 liter/min). Interfaces are HSK-A63, HSK-63/80 or HSK-A100. Aluminum, composite, cast iron, steel and titanium are the listed materials.
The magazine holds 100 tools and a change takes 14 sec chip to chip. The RigiMill MG uses the same spindle types but lets tool storage be specified in steps of 50 up to 500, so a job that needs more than 100 tools in the machine points to the RigiMill MG. Linear axes feed at 0-70 m/min (0-2,800 in/min) with 8 m/s² (26 ft/s²) of acceleration. The A-axis swings +/- 110 degrees and the C-axis +/- 360 degrees, both at 360 degrees/sec.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Three X travels, 2,500, 4,500 or 6,500 mm (100, 180 or 260 in), each longer than its maximum part length
- Two Y travels on offer: 1,560 or 2,000 mm (61 or 79 in)
- Aluminum spindle up to 30,000 rpm and up to 200 kW (272 hp) S1; hard metal spindle 0-12,000 rpm with 500-2,500 Nm (370-1,845 ft-lbs) S1
- Stated removal rates of 1,200 cubic inches/min (19.7 liters/min) in aluminum and 55 cubic inches/min (0.9 liter/min) in titanium
- A and C axes feed at 360 degrees/sec; linear axes at 0-70 m/min (0-2,800 in/min) with 8 m/s² (26 ft/s²)
- 100-tool magazine with HSK-A63, HSK-63/80 or HSK-A100 interfaces
Limitations
- Maximum part length stops at 6,000 mm (240 in) on the largest size
- Tool capacity is fixed at 100, against up to 500 on the RigiMill MG
- Part width is listed as 1,400 mm (55 in) only, with no separate figure for the 2,000 mm (79 in) Y version
- Tool change takes 14 sec chip to chip, a real cost on parts with many tools and short cuts
- No part weight, table load or tool size limits are listed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X travel is 2,500, 4,500 or 6,500 mm (100, 180 or 260 in), with maximum part lengths of 2,000, 4,000 or 6,000 mm (80, 160 or 240 in). Y travel is 1,560 or 2,000 mm (61 or 79 in). Z travel is 820 mm (32 in) on all of them, and maximum part width is given as 1,400 mm (55 in).
02
On the rows both pages share, the spindles are the same: an aluminum spindle of up to 30,000 rpm and up to 200 kW (272 hp) S1, and a hard metal spindle of 0-12,000 rpm with 500-2,500 Nm (370-1,845 ft-lbs) S1, on HSK-A63, HSK-63/80 or HSK-A100. Tool storage is where they part. The RigiMill MT holds 100 tools, while the RigiMill MG can be specified in steps of 50 up to 500.
03
The hard metal spindle. It runs 0-12,000 rpm and is rated 500-2,500 Nm (370-1,845 ft-lbs) S1, and Modig states a titanium removal rate of 55 cubic inches/min (0.9 liter/min). The aluminum spindle is the high-speed choice, at up to 30,000 rpm and up to 200 kW (272 hp) S1, with a stated 1,200 cubic inches/min (19.7 liters/min) in aluminum.
04
It can be. Modig lists it as 3-, 4- or 5-axis. With the rotary axes fitted, A covers +/- 110 degrees and C covers +/- 360 degrees, and both feed at 360 degrees/sec. X, Y and Z feed at 0-70 m/min (0-2,800 in/min) with 8 m/s² (26 ft/s²) of acceleration.
05
100 tools, with a tool change of 14 sec chip to chip. Interfaces are HSK-A63, HSK-63/80 or HSK-A100. The table does not list maximum tool length, diameter or weight, so confirm those for large cutters.
