Price estimate
We do not have a price for the ROMI DCM 620-5X that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Simultaneous 5-axis machining is the purpose of the ROMI DCM 620-5X. It shares its casting, travels and trunnion table with the 5F model, and what Romi changes is the control and the spindle: a Siemens Sinumerik One runs all five axes together, and the only headstock offered is the 15,000 rpm one.
That combination fits contoured parts. Impellers, blades, mould cavities and ported components are cut with a short tool kept normal to the surface while B and C move under it. The rotary table is equipped with angular encoders on both axes, and Romi compensates the kinematics of each machine individually during commissioning. A calibration sphere and a part measurement system, both optional, are required to rerun that measurement before tight-tolerance jobs.
The spindle is direct-coupled, ISO 40, 15 to 15,000 rpm, rated 22 hp / 16.5 kW on the S6 rating and 15 hp / 11 kW continuous, with 82 Nm (60.5 lb-ft) of maximum torque and a cooled housing. X, Y and Z travel 620 mm (24.4 in), 520 mm (20.47 in) and 470 mm (18.5 in) and both rapid and cutting feed reach 36 m/min (1,417 in/min). B swings +110° ~ -50°; C is unlimited at 360°.
The working volume is modest. The table is 600 x 600 mm (23.6 x 23.6 in), holds 500 kg (1,102 lb) and accepts a part of Ø675 x 430 mm height at most. Tool length is capped at 250 mm (9.8 in), and above 10,000 rpm the largest tool with empty neighbours is 117 mm (4.6 in). The machine weighs 9,100 kg (20,062 lbs) and draws 50 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Siemens Sinumerik One control for simultaneous 5-axis machining
- Angular encoders on the B and C axes
- 15,000 rpm direct-coupled ISO 40 spindle with a cooled housing
- Kinematic compensation carried out on each machine during commissioning
- Cutting feed programmable up to 36 m/min (1,417 in/min), the same as the rapid traverse
Limitations
- No 10,000 rpm option; the 15,000 rpm spindle with 82 Nm (60.5 lb-ft) is the only choice
- B and C axes turn at 25 rpm at most, which limits feed on small-radius contours
- Calibration sphere and part measurement are options, yet needed for kinematic re-measurement
- Parts are limited to Ø675 x 430 mm height and 500 kg (1,102 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. Romi describes its NC rotary/inclined table as equipped with angular encoders for simultaneous 5-axis machining, and it is controlled by a Siemens Sinumerik One. The sister DCM 620-5F is the five-face, positioning version with a Sinumerik 828D.
02
An ISO 40 spindle running from 15 to 15,000 rpm, directly coupled to a main motor rated 22 hp / 16.5 kW (S6 - 40% - 10 min.) and 15 hp / 11 kW continuous. Maximum torque is 82 Nm (60.5 lb-ft). The spindle housing has its own cooling system.
03
X is 620 mm (24.4 in), Y is 520 mm (20.47 in) and Z is 470 mm (18.5 in). The B axis tilts +110° ~ -50° and the C axis rotates 360°. The distance between spindle and table ranges from 150 ~ 620 mm (5.9 ~ 24.4 in).
04
Romi supplies kinematic measurement software that identifies the rotational centres of B and C relative to X, Y and Z, and says the compensation is done for each machine at commissioning. Thermal compensation for the Z-axis is standard. A calibration sphere and part measurement system are optional.
