Overview
Pallet change and a universal head come together in the Matec 30PPU | 40PPU. It is the version of MATEC's PP series for parts that are both slow to set up and awkward to reach: the pallet takes the setup out of the work area, and the head rotates ±180° in A and in C.
The universal head has a swivel radius of 440 mm (17.3 in) and direct measuring systems on both rotary axes. On a pallet machine that range has a practical use. A part clamped once on a pallet can be machined on five sides and at compound angles before the pallet leaves, which avoids a second clamping that would otherwise occupy the setup station again.
Pallets measure 2,000 to 5,000 mm (78.7 to 196.9 in) in length and 2,000 to 3,000 mm in width, with a pallet load of 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) depending on table size and drive system. The axes run on ball screws at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm); linear drive or toothed rack drive is the option. X travel is 3,750, 4,750, 5,750 or 6,750 mm, Y 3,400 or 4,400 mm and Z 1,500, 1,800 or 2,100 mm.
Spindle speed is listed at 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm, and the tools may weigh 20 kg (44 lb). MATEC's product page for this model carries the heading of the moving table machines, but its text and its table rows are those of the pallet series. Controls are SIEMENS or HEIDENHAIN.
