How much does the Matec 30PU | 40PU cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Matec 30PU | 40PU that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
On the Matec 30PU | 40PU, a 2-axis universal head rides a moving gantry over a stationary table. It is the long-bed machine in MATEC's range for work that needs the spindle at any angle: X travel is 3,000 to 40,000 mm and the head's swivel radius is 440 mm (17.3 in).
The rotation ranges printed for this head differ from the other universal-head machines. Both the C axis and the A axis are listed as ±360° here, where the 30PTU | 40PTU shows ±180° for each. If continuous or multi-turn rotation matters for the part, have MATEC confirm which figure applies to the machine as built.
Because the gantry moves and the table does not, long workpieces stay put while they are machined, and MATEC notes that the machine is only slightly longer than its X travel. The table measures 3,500 to 40,500 mm by 2,100 to 3,100 mm (82.7 to 122.0 in) and is rated at a maximum of 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), depending on table size and drive system. Y travel is 2,500 to 4,300 mm.
Z travel is 1,300, 1,500 or 1,800 mm and clearance height 1,100, 1,300 or 1,650 mm; with a 440 mm head radius, the tilted spindle uses a good part of that. Spindles reach 24,000 rpm, with 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) as the maxima. Tools may be 450 mm (17.7 in) long and 10 or 20 kg (22 or 44 lb). The axis drive is a ball screw, with a linear drive as the option.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Universal head listed with ±360° in both the C and the A axis
- X travel up to 40,000 mm (1,574.8 in) on a stationary table
- Swivel radius of 440 mm (17.3 in) for angled work on long parts
- Spindles of 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm
- Linear drive available in place of the ball screw
Limitations
- Clearance height is at most 1,650 mm (65.0 in)
- The 440 mm (17.3 in) head radius reduces usable Z when the spindle is horizontal
- The ±360° head ranges differ from MATEC's other universal-head listings and should be confirmed
- Feed and rapid traverse on the ball screw drive are 30 m/min (1,181 ipm)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The product page lists ±360° for the C axis and ±360° for the A axis, with direct measuring systems on both and a swivel radius of 440 mm (17.3 in). Other universal-head machines in the range, such as the 30PBU | 40PBU, are listed with ±180°, so it is sensible to have the figure confirmed.
02
Only the head differs in MATEC's tables. The 30P | 40P has a 2-axis fork head with a 250 mm swivel radius and ±105° in A. The 30PU | 40PU has the universal head with 440 mm (17.3 in). Travels, table sizes, table load, spindle options and tool magazine are the same.
03
Table length is 3,500 to 40,500 mm (137.8 to 1,594.5 in) and table width 2,100 to 3,100 mm (82.7 to 122.0 in). Maximum table load is 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), which MATEC says depends on table size and drive system. For a table this long, ask how that figure is to be read per metre.
04
Spindle speeds of 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm in the HSK63 and HSK100 performance classes, with a maximum of 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). The CNC control unit is SIEMENS or HEIDENHAIN. MATEC states that the basic design is identical for both performance classes.
