How much does the AWEA LP-3016YF cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-3016YF that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Three metres of X is where many 5-face jobs start, and the AWEA LP-3016YF covers it with 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel, 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y and 760 mm (29.9 in) of Z. Unlike the shorter model, its table is longer than the stroke: 3,260 x 1,500 mm (128.3 x 59.1 in), rated for 10,000 kg (22,046 lb). Clamps and stops can sit on the stretch of table that the spindle never has to visit.
This is the longest machine in the group that still rapids at 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) on X. Y matches it, and Z moves at 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm). On 5-face work that matters more than on a plain bridge mill, because each change of face means a run to the head storage or the magazine and back. From the LP-4016YF onward the X rapid falls to 15,000 mm/min.
Width is the limit to watch. The columns are 1,700 mm (66.9 in) apart and the table is 1,500 mm wide. A horizontal head working the long sides of a part needs space between part and column, so the usable part width with side machining is well under the table width. For wide parts AWEA lists the LP-3021YF, with 2,300 mm (90.6 in) between the columns, a 3,020 x 2,010 mm (118.9 x 79.1 in) table and a weight of 34,000 kg (74,956 lb). The LP-3016YF weighs 29,000 kg (63,933 lb).
The 6,000 rpm spindle uses a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor and a BT50 taper. AWEA puts roller type linear guide ways on X and Y and a hardened, ground box way on Z, and states that the base of this size is a one-piece structure with 2 roller type linear guide ways.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Table of 3,260 mm is longer than the 3,000 mm (118.1 in) X travel, leaving room for clamps and stops outside the cutting zone
- 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) X rapid; the LP-4016YF drops to 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm)
- 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) table load in a 29,000 kg (63,933 lb) machine
- Tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long, where the wider LP-3021YF lists 350 mm (13.8 in)
- Cutting feed from 1 ~ 10,000 mm/min (0.04 ~ 394 ipm)
Limitations
- Only 1,700 mm (66.9 in) between the columns; side machining with a horizontal head narrows the usable part width further
- VDI positioning is P ≤ 0.025 mm over full travel, looser than the P ≤ 0.020 mm of the LP-2516YF
- Z travel is 760 mm (29.9 in); the 1,000 mm (39.4 in) stroke belongs to the LP-3016YZF
- The table lists 60 and 90 tools as magazine options, short of the 120 offered on the LP-3021YF

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Decide on part width. The LP-3016YF has 1,700 mm (66.9 in) between the columns, a 1,500 mm wide table and 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y, and its Y axis rapids at 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm). The LP-3021YF has 2,300 mm (90.6 in) between the columns, 2,400 mm (94.5 in) of Y and a 3,020 x 2,010 mm table, with a 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm) Y rapid. Both carry 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
02
AWEA gives two sets of figures. Under JIS the positioning accuracy is ± 0.015 mm over full travel with ± 0.003 mm repeatability. Under VDI the values are P ≤ 0.025 mm over full travel and Ps ≤ 0.020 mm. The VDI figures are the ones that change with machine length, so use them when comparing sizes.
03
The maker places the X-axis ball screw in the centre of the axis within a wide span symmetrical layout, and says this avoids yawing and uneven wear of the guide ways. A ball screw vibration absorber is fitted to reduce vibration of the long screw. The base for this size is described as a one-piece structure with 2 roller type linear guide ways.
04
The table lists 6,000 rpm as the base speed and direct drive spindles of 8,000 / 10,000 rpm as options, all on a BT50 (ISO50) taper with DIN69871-A optional. Motor power is 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP). If a direct drive spindle is chosen, AWEA notes that the Z axis can be built with roller type linear guide ways instead of the box way.
