Fidia GTF/R — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fidia GTF/R that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fidia or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fidia GTF/R is the heavy, most modular member of the GTF gantry family, built on epoxy concrete columns with a 600 x 600 mm ram. X travel is listed at 5,200 mm (205 in), 7,600 mm (299 in), 10,000 mm (394 in), 12,400 mm (488 in) or 19,600 mm (772 in), and Fidia says the design can be extended to any X length by adding columns to the smallest 2+2 columns configuration.

Y comes in four widths: 2,200 mm (87 in), 3,500 mm (138 in), 4,000 mm (157 in) or 5,000 mm (197 in). Z runs from 1,000 mm (39 in) to 2,500 mm (99 in). Table load capacity is 9,000 kg/m² (1,843 lbs/sqft), the figure that marks this as the version for large steel and cast iron dies.

The large ram exists to carry a wide choice of heads, with automatic head changing. Fidia lists the M5A/55 continuous head with 55 kW, the M5S symmetrical head with 65 kW, the M5E orthogonal head with an interchangeable spindle, and the M5H, a mechanically driven high-torque head given as 1,100 Nm and 34 kW. The specification table itself says speed until 30,000 1/min and torque up to 1,000 Nm, so ask Fidia which torque figure applies to the head you need.

Standard axis speed is 30 m/min, with 50 m/min in X and Y and 40 m/min in Z as an option. X and Y are driven by tandem rack and pinion. Where lighter work dominates, the GTF/L runs X and Y at 60 m/min. Where a double gantry is wanted, see the Y2G/Q4.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table load capacity of 9,000 kg/m² (1,843 lbs/sqft)
  • 600 x 600 mm ram that accepts M5A/55, M5S, M5S2, M5E and M5H heads, with automatic head changing
  • X travel listed up to 19,600 mm (772 in) and extendable by adding columns
  • Y travel up to 5,000 mm (197 in)
  • Epoxy concrete columns for vibration damping

Limitations

  • Standard axis speed is 30 m/min; 50 m/min in X and Y is an option
  • The maker gives two torque figures: up to 1,000 Nm in the table and 1,100 Nm for the M5H head
  • Z stroke with the M5H head is limited to 2,000 mm
  • The smallest listed X travel is 5,200 mm (205 in)

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What makes the Fidia GTF/R different from other GTF versions?

Its columns are stiff epoxy concrete for vibration damping, it integrates a 600 x 600 mm ram, and it has an automatic head changing system. Fidia says these versions have the greatest level of modularity in the GTF family and can be extended to any X axis length by adding columns.

02 What travels are offered on the GTF/R?

X is 5,200 mm (205 in), 7,600 mm (299 in), 10,000 mm (394 in), 12,400 mm (488 in) or 19,600 mm (772 in). Y is 2,200 mm (87 in), 3,500 mm (138 in), 4,000 mm (157 in) or 5,000 mm (197 in). Z is 1,000 mm (39 in) to 2,500 mm (99 in).

03 Which heads fit the GTF/R?

Fidia lists the M5S, M5S2 and M5E with Z strokes up to 2,500 mm and the M5H with strokes up to 2,000 mm. The head list also shows the M5A/55 continuous head with 55 kW, the M5S with 65 kW and the M5H with 1,100 Nm and 34 kW.

04 How fast are the axes of the GTF/R?

The standard axis speed is 30 m/min. As an option, X and Y can run at 50 m/min and Z at 40 m/min. A tandem rack and pinion system drives X and Y, and Z is driven by rack and pinion according to the stroke length and application.
