Overview

The Matec 30PTR | 40PTR adds an integrated CNC rotary table to MATEC's stationary gantry, moving table design. In place of the rectangular clamping table of the 30PT | 40PT, the table row lists a rotary table of Ø 1,800 or Ø 2,200 mm (Ø 70.9 or Ø 86.6 in).

With the workpiece able to turn under the gantry, a round or multi-sided part can be presented to the spindle face by face instead of being reached around by the head alone. The head listed as standard is a 2-axis fork head with a swivel radius of 225 or 280 mm (8.9 or 11.0 in), a 360° C axis and ±110° in A. MATEC names the 2-axis universal head and the fork head with torque drive as options, so the head can be matched to the work.

The linear axes are those of the family: 3,750 to 6,750 mm in X, 3,400 or 4,400 mm in Y, and 1,500, 1,800 or 2,100 mm in Z, with clearance heights of 1,350, 1,650 or 2,050 mm (53.1, 65.0 or 80.7 in). Table load is 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) at most, depending on table size and drive system. That figure, not the diameter, is likely to be the limit for dense steel parts on a 2,200 mm table.

Spindles are listed at 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm with up to 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). The magazine holds 40 or 48 tools and extends to a maximum of 680. Ball screws drive the axes at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm), and the X axis is available with linear or rack drive.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Integrated CNC rotary table of Ø 1,800 or Ø 2,200 mm (Ø 70.9 or Ø 86.6 in)
  • Choice of fork head, universal head or torque-drive fork head
  • Spindle speeds up to 24,000 rpm with a 96 kW (128.7 hp) maximum
  • C axis of the head rotates 360°
  • Clearance height up to 2,050 mm (80.7 in)

Limitations

  • Table load is limited to 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), depending on table size and drive system
  • MATEC publishes no speed, torque or accuracy figure for the rotary table itself
  • The largest rotary table, Ø 2,200 mm, is smaller than the 3,000 mm wide clamping tables of the 30PT | 40PT
  • The universal and torque-drive heads are options

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What rotary table does the 30PTR | 40PTR have?

An integrated CNC rotary table, listed in two diameters: Ø 1,800 and Ø 2,200 mm (Ø 70.9 and Ø 86.6 in). The maximum table load is 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), which MATEC qualifies as depending on table size and drive system. No rotary speed is published.

02 Which heads can be fitted to the 30PTR | 40PTR?

The standard listing is a 2-axis fork head with a 225 or 280 mm (8.9 or 11.0 in) swivel radius, 360° in C and ±110° in A. Under options MATEC names a 2-axis universal head and a 2-axis fork head with torque drive. An interchangeable head magazine for four heads with automatic change is also optional.

03 What travels and clearances are available?

X is 3,750, 4,750, 5,750 or 6,750 mm, Y is 3,400 or 4,400 mm and Z is 1,500, 1,800 or 2,100 mm. Clearance height is 1,350, 1,650 or 2,050 mm and clearance width 2,320 or 3,320 mm, so the widest version passes parts well beyond the diameter of the rotary table.

04 Which controls and spindles are offered?

CNC control is SIEMENS or HEIDENHAIN. The main spindle is offered at 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm in the HSK63 and HSK100 performance classes, with maxima of 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). Tools can be 450 mm (17.7 in) long and weigh 10 or 20 kg (22 or 44 lb).
