Overview

Bevel cuts in large tube are what the LVD TL 8525 is built for. It carries a 45-degree 3D tilt cutting head, takes round tube up to 250 mm (9.8 in) and square tube up to 250 x 250 mm (9.8 x 9.8 in), and accepts lengths of 8,200 mm (322.8 in). LVD gives the diameter range as 20 mm to 250 mm.

The tilt head changes what can be done in one setup. Besides straight cuts in round, square, rectangular and irregular sections, it cuts weld-preparation bevels in thick-walled tube and works on profiles and channels. The head travels 1,190 mm (46.9 in) along its own X1 axis, which lets it reach along the tube and behind the steady rest; LVD's point is that more of each length becomes parts and less becomes remnant.

Standard power is 2 kW, with a 4 kW source as the option for faster cutting or more demanding jobs. That is modest next to the 3 kW or 4 kW of the smaller TL 2665, so the larger machine is defined by its envelope and its head, not by wattage. The table states no wall-thickness limit. Tube weight may reach 40 kg/m.

Handling is semi-automatic. A front loader holds six tubes, different sizes together if wanted, and can be topped up while the machine runs. On the outfeed side a servo-controlled table tilts to release parts onto a 3 m conveyor with compartments that keep them apart. Standard part length is 3,000 mm (118.1 in); an optional outfeed extension takes parts up to 6m.

Axis speeds are 60 m/min on X1, X2 and Y and 45 m/min on Z, with the chuck turning at up to 60 rpm. Control is a Siemens CNC with an integrated touchscreen, programmed through CADMAN-T.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 45-degree 3D tilt cutting head for bevels and weld-prep cuts in thick-walled tube
  • Round tube up to 250 mm (9.8 in) and square up to 250 x 250 mm, in lengths to 8,200 mm (322.8 in)
  • 1,190 mm (46.9 in) X1 head travel reaches behind the steady rest to use more of each tube
  • 6-position front loader that takes mixed tube sizes and can be reloaded during processing
  • Servo-controlled tilting outfeed table feeding a 3 m compartment conveyor

Limitations

  • Standard source is 2 kW; 4 kW is an option
  • Standard part length is 3,000 mm (118.1 in); longer parts up to 6m need the optional outfeed extension
  • Rotary speed is up to 60 rpm, half the 120 rotations/min listed for the TL 2665
  • No wall-thickness capacity is stated in LVD's table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the largest tube the TL 8525 takes?

250 mm (9.8 in) round or 250 x 250 mm (9.8 x 9.8 in) square, up to 8,200 mm (322.8 in) long and up to 40 kg/m. LVD gives the working diameter range as 20 mm to 250 mm.

02 What does the tilt head allow?

The 45-degree 3D tilt cutting head makes angled cuts as well as straight ones. LVD lists precision cuts in round, square, rectangular and irregular-shaped tubes, complex profiles and channels, and weld-prep cuts in thick-walled tubes. It moves on an X1 axis with 1,190 mm of travel, so it can also work behind the steady rest.

03 How does the TL 8525 differ from the TL 2665?

Capacity and head. The TL 8525 takes 250 mm round tube and has a bevel head; the TL 2665 is listed for round tube of 19 x 165 mm and square tube to 127 x 127 mm. The TL 2665 allows longer parts as standard, 4,800 mm against 3,000 mm, and comes with a 3 kW or 4 kW source where the TL 8525 starts at 2 kW.

04 How long can finished parts be?

3,000 mm (118.1 in) as standard. LVD offers an outfeed extension as an option that allows parts up to 6m, and the outfeed conveyor can be extended to 6m in the same way. Raw tube can be up to 8,200 mm long.

05 What control and software does it run?

A Siemens CNC control with an integrated touchscreen panel, which LVD says supports high-speed processing with laser control functions for cut quality. Programming is done in CADMAN-T, LVD's software for tubes and profiles. Bundle feeder, seam detection, outfeed extension and data reporting are the listed automation options.
