Overview

The Litz VC-800A is a general-purpose vertical machining center with 800 mm (31.5 in) of X travel, 500 mm (19.7 in) of Y and 540 mm (21.3 in) of Z. Its 10,000 rpm BT-40 spindle is belt-driven from an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor.

That motor is the reason to look at this model. It is twice the rating of the VC-600 below it, on a machine that weighs 5,300 kg (11,684 lb). For a job shop cutting steel as often as aluminium, the VC-800A has the power to run a 40-taper face mill properly while staying small enough for a tight floor.

The option list is long on spindles. Besides a 12,000 rpm belt spindle, Litz offers direct-drive spindles at 12,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm and built-in spindles at 15,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm. A shop can therefore buy the same casting as a torque machine or as a speed machine. The magazine can also grow from the standard 24T to a 32T arm type.

Table size is 910 x 500 mm (35.8 x 19.7 in) with a 500 kg (1,102 lb) limit. Spindle nose to table distance runs from 150 to 690 mm (5.9 to 27.2 in), so short tools on low parts may need a sub-plate. The axis motors are 3 / 3 / 4 kW and rapids are 36 / 36 / 24 m/min (1,417 / 1,417 / 945 ipm). The coolant tank holds 250 L. Supply is 25 kVA.
