How much does the AWEA VP-3012HS cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA VP-3012HS that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
At 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel, the AWEA VP-3012HS is the mid-length model of the VP-HS series and the first where bed length starts to show in the motion figures. X rapid drops to 20 m/min (787 ipm), while Y stays at 24 m/min (945 ipm) and Z at 20 m/min (787 ipm). Y travel is 1,200 mm (47.2 in) and Z is 760 mm (29.9 in).
Accuracy has not yet given anything away. The VDI positioning figure remains P ≤ 0.02 mm over full travel and repeatability Ps ≤ 0.015 mm, identical to the VP-2012HS, which is a metre shorter. Go one size up to the VP-4012HS and those rows widen to P ≤ 0.03 mm and Ps ≤ 0.02 mm, with X rapid halved to 10 m/min (394 ipm). For long precision parts, this length is the practical limit before the table starts trading tolerance and speed for reach.
The 3,000 x 1,100 mm (118.1 x 43.3 in) table carries 4,500 kg (9,921 lb). That is a long, narrow surface. It favours one extended workpiece such as a die shoe, a machine rail or a structural plate, or a row of smaller fixtures worked in sequence along X.
Spindle hardware is common to the series. A direct-driven unit reaches 10,000 rpm on a BBT50 dual contact taper, powered by a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor. AWEA places the main spindle, its motor and the ball screw symmetrically in the head, and offers a long nose spindle as an option that it recommends for groove milling and boring. The whole machine weighs 20,000 kg (44,092 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Longest VP-HS model that keeps P ≤ 0.02 mm VDI positioning over full travel
- 3,000 x 1,100 mm (118.1 x 43.3 in) table rated at 4,500 kg (9,921 lb)
- Cutting feed is still 12 m/min (472 ipm), as on the shorter machines
- Optional long nose spindle, recommended by AWEA for groove milling and boring
- Head layout with spindle, motor and ball screw placed symmetrically
Limitations
- X rapid of 20 m/min (787 ipm), down from 24 m/min (945 ipm) on the VP-2012HS
- The HD-3012 carries 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) on a table of equal size
- Table width of 1,100 mm (43.3 in) does not grow with the added length
- Weight of 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) calls for a prepared foundation

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Not according to the published rows. Both machines list VDI positioning of P ≤ 0.02 mm over full travel and repeatability of Ps ≤ 0.015 mm, and both list ± 0.010 mm and ± 0.003 mm by the JIS method. The difference between them is the X rapid: 20 m/min (787 ipm) here against 24 m/min (945 ipm) on the VP-2012HS.
02
4,500 kg (9,921 lb) across a 3,000 x 1,100 mm (118.1 x 43.3 in) surface. If the job weighs more, the HD-3012 is rated at 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) on the same table size, though it runs a gear spindle at 6,000 rpm instead of this machine's 10,000 rpm.
03
AWEA says an optional long nose spindle, combined with a shorter tool, increases rigidity and accuracy, and recommends it for groove milling and boring. The idea is to reach into a pocket with the spindle housing itself, so the cutter can be kept short. It is an option and should be confirmed at order.
04
Distance from spindle nose to table runs 200 ~ 960 mm (7.9 ~ 37.8 in), and Z travel is 760 mm (29.9 in). Tool length comes off that daylight, and the magazine accepts tools up to 350 mm (13.8 in). Between the columns there is 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of width for the workpiece to pass.
05
Roller type linear guide ways on X, Y and Z, per AWEA's description of the series. The Y-axis ways are arranged in a stepped offset, which the maker says raises structural integrity and brings the spindle center closer to the cross beam.
