Overview
The Brother TC-S2C is a high-speed tapping center with the largest standard work envelope in the TC-S2 single-table lineup. X/Y/Z travels of 500 x 400 x 300 mm and a 3.7 kW spindle motor give the TC-S2C genuine light milling capability alongside its core tapping and drilling role, bridging the gap between a dedicated tapping center and a compact vertical machining center.
The BT30 spindle runs at 10,000 rpm standard with an optional 16,000 rpm configuration. The 21-tool ATC maintains sub-1-second tool-to-tool changes. Brother's column-traverse architecture moves the spindle column rather than the table, reducing workpiece-side moving mass for the fast acceleration that defines the tapping center class.
With 80 kg table load capacity, the TC-S2C accommodates larger die-cast housings, manifold blocks, and medium-sized aluminum parts that would not fit on the smaller TC-S2A or TC-S2B. The 300 mm Z-travel also provides more clearance for taller fixturing and workholding setups.
The CNC-C00 control provides Ethernet, USB, rigid tapping optimization, high-speed look-ahead, and conversational aids. The 3.7 kW spindle motor is the same power level as the legacy TC-32A, but paired with modern servo drives and control electronics for significantly improved overall performance.
The TC-S2C targets shops that need the speed of a tapping center for hole-intensive programs but also require enough travel and spindle power to perform contour milling, pocketing, and face milling operations on the same parts without moving them to a separate VMC.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Largest work envelope in the TC-S2 single-table lineup covers parts up to 500 mm in X
- 3.7 kW spindle motor provides genuine light milling capability alongside tapping and drilling
- 50 m/min rapids and sub-1-second tool changes maintain class-leading cycle times
- 80 kg table load accommodates larger die-cast housings and manifold blocks
- Column-traverse architecture delivers faster acceleration than moving-table VMCs
- CNC-C00 control shared across Brother lineup simplifies multi-machine operator training
Limitations
- BT30 taper limits heavy cutting and large-diameter tooling compared to BT40/CAT40 VMCs
- Higher price than TC-S2A and TC-S2B may not be justified for small-part-only shops
- Larger footprint reduces the density advantage of smaller Brother tapping centers
- No pallet changer — for pallet-equipped configurations, see the TC-R2 series

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The TC-S2C is the modern equivalent with the same 3.7 kW spindle power but larger travels (500x400x300 vs 450x300x250 mm), the CNC-C00 control replacing the legacy NC-B00, and faster rapid traverse rates. It is a significant all-around upgrade.
02
For aluminum and non-ferrous parts requiring drilling, tapping, and light milling, yes. The TC-S2C combines tapping center speed with enough spindle power and travel for contour milling. For heavy steel cutting, a dedicated VMC with CAT40 taper is more appropriate.
03
The TC-S2D offers the same 500mm X-travel but with a larger Y-travel of 400 mm and increased spindle power up to 5.5 kW. The TC-S2D is designed for parts requiring more milling capability.
04
Through-spindle coolant is available as a factory option. It is recommended for deep-hole drilling and tapping in production environments to improve chip evacuation and tool life.
