Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Litz TX-500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Litz TX-500 is a compact tapping center, which Litz labels its high speed model, with a BT-30 spindle at 12,000 rpm and rapids of 48 / 48 / 48 m/min (1,890 / 1,890 / 1,890 ipm) on all three axes. Travels are 500 mm (19.7 in) in X, 400 mm (15.7 in) in Y and 330 mm (13.0 in) in Z.
Machines of this type live on cycle time. Holes are drilled and tapped by the hundred, each tool is in the cut for seconds, and the gaps between cuts decide output. A Z axis that rapids as fast as X and Y is what matters most here, because every hole means a retract and a plunge. Rigid tapping is on the standard list.
The frame is small and light at 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). The table measures 650 x 400 mm (25.6 x 15.7 in), holds 250 kg (551 lb) and has three 14 mm T-slots. The spindle motor is 3.5 / 5.5 kW (4.7 / 7.4 hp), continuous and 30 min rated, which is in proportion to BT-30 tooling limited to 3 kg (7 lb) per tool.
A 21-tool disc type magazine is standard and a 16T magazine is listed as an option, as is a servo magazine. Other options worth noting are a 24,000 rpm spindle, coolant through the spindle and raised columns of 100 mm or 200 mm for taller fixtures or a rotary table. Standard control is the Mitsubishi M80.
