Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Kjellberg K 200 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Kjellberg K 200 is a plasma power source of up to 200 A for CNC-guided and robot-guided cutting, built around a short list of gases and an integrated automatic gas control. Cutting current is 60 - 200 A, and Kjellberg gives the material thickness range as 1 to 60 mm.
Its distinguishing feature is that air alone will do. The unit can cut mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium using air as both the plasma and swirl gas, and the table has an Air/Air column for each material. Run that way, the maximum is 60 mm (2.4 in) in mild steel and stainless steel and 50 mm (2.0 in) in aluminium, with piercing at 35 mm (1.4 in), 30 mm (1.2 in) and 30 mm.
Interestingly, the nitrogen columns are the lower ones. With N2 / N2 the stainless steel maximum is 40 mm (1.6 in) with 25 mm (1.0 in) piercing, and aluminium is 40 mm with 20 mm (0.8 in) piercing. Oxygen as plasma gas, the O2/Air column, is listed for mild steel only and gives the same 60 mm and 35 mm as air. The plasma gas row holds O2, N2 and Air; argon and hydrogen do not appear in it.
Control is through an RS-485 serial interface in CNC mode. For guiding systems without a serial interface, the K-Desk app monitors and adjusts process and cutting parameters from a smartphone. Marking is a fixed 35 A with air. The source weighs 351 kg (774 lb), measures 1078 x 684 x 1231 mm, and connects to 3 x 400 V, 50 Hz on an 80 A slow fuse with a maximum connected load of 52 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Cuts mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium using air as both the plasma and swirl gas
- Mild steel maximum of 60 mm (2.4 in) and piercing at 35 mm (1.4 in), with O2/Air or Air/Air
- Integrated automatic gas control and direct torch connection
- RS-485 serial interface for CNC mode, and the K-Desk app where there is no serial interface
- K-Torch XS Robo robotic torch for robot-guided cutting
- Protection class IP 21S; 80 A slow fuse and a maximum connected load of 52 kVA
Limitations
- Cutting current starts at 60 A and the thickness range at 1 mm
- Plasma gases are O2, N2 and Air only; no argon or hydrogen gases are listed
- With N2 / N2, stainless steel and aluminium are limited to a 40 mm maximum
- Marking current is a single 35 A value, not an adjustable range
- Mains voltage is 3 x 400 V, 50 Hz; other voltages and frequencies are on request

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Kjellberg gives a material thickness range of 1 to 60 mm. The table lists a mild steel maximum of 60 mm (2.4 in) with piercing at 35 mm. Stainless steel reaches 60 mm with Air/Air and 40 mm with N2 / N2; aluminium reaches 50 mm with Air/Air and 40 mm with N2 / N2.
02
Yes. Kjellberg states that the K 200 can cut mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium using air as both the plasma and swirl gas. The marking gas is also air. Depending on the material and cutting task, oxygen or nitrogen can be used as the plasma gas instead.
03
Via the RS-485 serial interface, through which it can be integrated into and controlled by CNC guiding systems. For systems without a serial interface, the K-Desk app lets users monitor, select and adjust process and cutting parameters via smartphone.
04
No. Kjellberg lists it for CNC-guided and robot-guided cutting, and its brochure also lists the hand torches K-Torch M and K-Torch MS for manual plasma cutting and gouging. The machine torch is the K-Torch, and a quick-change version, the K-Torch QC, is listed too.
05
Mains voltage is 3 x 400 V, 50 Hz, with an 80 A slow fuse and a maximum connected load of 52 kVA. Other voltages and frequencies are on request. The cutting current of 60 - 200 A is rated at 100 % DC at an ambient temperature of 40 °C.
