Overview
The Johnford SV-60 is the largest 40-taper model in the SV series, with 1,525 mm (60 in) of X travel on a 1,600 x 700 mm (63 x 27.6 in) table. Y is 710 mm (28 in) and Z is 630 mm (24.8 in). It weighs 11,000 kg (24,250 lb), far more than any smaller SV model.
That weight is the figure to notice. The SV-48, one size down, shares the SV-60's Y and Z travels, its 24 / 24 / 24 m/min (945 / 945 / 945 ipm) rapids and its spindle, yet is listed at 7,000 kg (15,400 lb). The SV-60 is not simply the SV-48 with a longer table. It is 3,940 mm long and 3,240 mm high, and the table is rated for 1,700 kg (3,740 lb).
The spindle row is short on this model. Johnford gives 60~10,000 rpm in BT-40 / CAT-40 with a 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp) Hi-Lo gear drive, and prints no optional spindle or motor in the SV-60 column of the table. The series option list still names 15,000, 18,000 and 20,000 rpm HSK A63 built-in spindles, so anyone who needs more than 10,000 rpm on this size should ask Johnford directly whether those apply.
A 24-tool armless changer is standard, with arm type 24 or 32 tool changers as options. For a table 1,600 mm long the tool limits are modest: 75 mm (3 in) diameter beside other tools, 100 mm (4 in) alone, 320 mm (12.6 in) long and 10 kg (22 lb). The series also lists an automatic pallet changer with pallets up to 1,600 x 700 mm, which matches this table size.
