Overview
The Hwacheon SIRIUS-1050 is the deep-Z member of the SIRIUS large-table range. It travels 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in X, 1,050 mm (41.3 in) in Y and 850 mm (33.5 in) in Z, and the spindle nose reaches from 200 ~ 1,050 mm (7.9 ~ 41.3 in) above a 2,800 x 1,050 mm (110.2 x 41.3 in) table. That is more Z than the neighbouring SIRIUS sizes offer: the SIRIUS-850, SIRIUS-1250 and SIRIUS-1350 all stop at 750 mm (29.5 in), and the SIRIUS-1750 at 800 mm (31.5 in).
That height matters on tall castings, angle plates and jobs where a long boring bar or extension has to reach the bottom of a pocket. The table takes 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) and has seven 22 x 150 mm (0.87 x 5.91 in) T-slots.
It is also the quickest of the 50-taper SIRIUS models in the horizontal plane. X and Y rapid at 20 m/min (787 ipm) and Z at 16 m/min (630 ipm), where the SIRIUS-1250 lists 16 m/min on all three axes. On a 2,500 mm X stroke that saves real time between features.
The spindle is the series' built-in BBT-50 unit at 8,000 or 12,000 rpm, rated 30 / 25 kW (40.2 / 33.5 hp), with oil-jet bearings on a Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in) bore and oil-cooler jacket cooling. The magazine is 24 tools as standard with 30 optional, memory random, for tools up to 350 mm (13.8 in) and 20 kg (44 lb). Diameter is the catch: Ø100 mm (Ø3.9 in) with neighbours loaded, against Ø110 mm on the SIRIUS-850, or Ø200 mm (Ø7.9 in) with adjacent pockets empty.
At 27,690 kg (61,045 lb) the SIRIUS-1050 outweighs the SIRIUS-1250 (23,000 kg) despite the shorter Y. It needs a 6,630 x 4,730 mm (261.0 x 186.2 in) floor area, 3,750 mm (147.6 in) of height, 75 kVA, 0.5 ~ 0.7 MPa x 1,870 NL/min of air, and it carries the largest coolant tank of the group at 1,250 L (330 US gal). Control is a Fanuc 31i-B.
