Hwacheon VESTA-1650

The Hwacheon VESTA-1650 is a 1,650 mm (65.0 in) X-travel vertical machining center, with 750 mm (29.5 in) of Y and 675 mm (26.6 in) of Z over a 1,700 x 750 mm (66.9 x 29.5 in) table that takes 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). It sits between the VESTA-1300+, with its 1,500 x 670 mm (59.1 x 26.4 in) table and 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) rating, and the VESTA-2000 with 2,000 x 850 mm (78.7 x 33.5 in) and 1,800 kg (3,968 lb).

The table has seven 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm (3.94 in) pitch, a close pattern that helps when clamping several small vises across its width. Rapids are 30 / 30 / 24 m/min (1,181 / 1,181 / 945 ipm).

Spindle choice is BT-40 at 10,000, 12,000 or 15,000 rpm, rated 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp), or an 8,000 rpm BT-50 rated 15 / 11 kW (20.1 / 14.8 hp). The BT-50 with through-spindle coolant is listed higher, at 26 / 22 kW (34.9 / 29.5 hp), so a buyer planning heavy roughing should specify that combination rather than the plain BT-50. The bearing arrangement splits by speed: the 10K and BT-50 spindles use grease and fan-cooled jackets, while the 12K and 15K run air-oil lubrication with an oil cooler, which suits long runs at high rpm.

Tool storage is where this model differs most from the VESTA-2000, whose BT-40 magazine is listed at 30 tools with no larger option. Here the BT-40 magazine holds 30 as standard with 40 or 60 as options, and BT-50 holds 24 with 32 or 40. For a machine of this size that often runs a different job at each end of the table, a 60-tool magazine avoids reloading between setups.
