We do not have a price for the Huron Tachyon 4 Five that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron Tachyon 4 Five is the Tachyon drilling-tapping centre fitted with a two-axis rotary table in place of the fixed one, which turns it into a small five-axis machine. Linear travels are 400 x 400 x 450 mm (15.7 x 15.7 x 17.7 in). The table plate is 200 mm in diameter and carries 30 kg (66 lb).
The rotary axes are quick. A tilts ±110° at 150 rpm and C turns 360° at 250 rpm. Huron gives the largest workpiece as 200 mm in diameter by 170 mm high, and names the intended work directly: complex small parts with 3 to 5 simultaneous axes for general mechanics, watchmaking and medical applications.
Spindle data for this version are a single set of figures. The BBT 30 spindle runs to 24,000 rpm with 5.86 kW and 7 Nm, and a characteristic speed of 8,000 rpm. With 7 Nm available, cutters are small and cuts are light, which matches parts that fit a 200 mm plate.
Everything outside the table is standard Tachyon. Rapids are 60 m/min, the changer holds 24 tools up to 200 mm long and 3 kg, and the stated linear positioning is 0.006 mm with 0.004 mm repeatability. Huron's table gives no accuracy figure for the A and C axes. The footprint is 1,510 x 2,900 mm and the weight 3,550 kg (7,826 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Huron lists a maximum workpiece of 200 mm in diameter by 170 mm in height, on a 200 mm plate with an admissible load of 30 kg (66 lb). Linear travels are 400 mm in X and Y and 450 mm in Z.
02
The A axis tilts ±110° at up to 150 rpm. The C axis rotates through 360° at up to 250 rpm. The table is described as a roto-tilting dividing device that replaces the fixed table of the standard Tachyon.
03
Both have 400 x 400 x 450 mm travels and the same 1,510 x 2,900 mm footprint. The Tachyon 4 FT has a fixed 600 x 400 mm table for 400 kg. The Tachyon 4 Five has the two-axis rotary table for 30 kg, and its spindle is listed at 5.86 kW and 7 Nm.
04
Its spindle provides 7 Nm of torque and 5.86 kW at up to 24,000 rpm on a BBT 30 taper. That favours small tools at high speed. Finishing small parts in hard alloys is plausible with suitable cutters, but heavy roughing is not what the figures support.
