Huron MX 12 MT — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Huron MX 12 MT that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Huron or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With a 1,400 mm table that turns at 250 rpm, the Huron MX 12 MT brings mill-turn capability to parts well over a metre in diameter. It shares the 1,200 x 1,600 x 1,000 mm (47.2 x 63.0 x 39.4 in) travels of the MX 12 M and carries 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).

Table speed halves compared with the MX 10 MT, which runs at 500 rpm. That follows from diameter: surface speed at the rim of a 1,400 mm part is already high at 250 rpm. What matters for the buyer is whether small-diameter features near the centre can still be turned at a sensible cutting speed.

The spindle is the HSK 100-A unit with 43 kW and 415 Nm at up to 10,000 rpm, and tools may weigh 25 kg, measure 250 mm across and reach 650 mm in length. That tool envelope fits the parts: large face mills for casting skins, long bars for deep bores, and rigid holders for turning.

Head kinematics are the MX standard. A tilts from -45° to +180° at 100 rpm on a 45° plane, with an integrated torque motor and vibration monitoring. Stated accuracy is 0.007 mm on X, Y and Z and 10 sec on A and C. The magazine has 60 housings. Overall size is the same as the M version, up to 7,210 x 10,755 mm with the APC option.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,400 mm mill/turn table at up to 250 rpm
  • 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) table load in a turning-capable machine
  • 415 Nm HSK 100-A spindle with 43 kW
  • Tools up to 650 mm long, 250 mm in diameter and 25 kg
  • 1,600 mm of Y travel to cover the full table

Limitations

  • Table speed is 250 rpm, half that of the MX 10 MT

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the turning table on the Huron MX 12 MT?

A mill/turn table of 1,400 mm diameter with a 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) admissible load and a rotating speed of 250 rpm.

02 How does the MX 12 MT compare with the MX 16 MT?

The MX 16 MT is much larger: 2,300 x 2,300 x 1,250 mm travels, a 1,650 mm table and a 5,000 kg load. Its table also turns at 250 rpm and it uses the same 43 kW, 415 Nm spindle. The MX 12 MT has 1,200 x 1,600 x 1,000 mm travels and a 1,400 mm table.

03 What tooling fits the MX 12 MT?

HSK 100-A tooling. The 60-housing changer accepts tools up to 250 mm in diameter, 650 mm long and 25 kg (55 lb).

04 What are the axis travels and speeds?

X is 1,200 mm, Y is 1,600 mm and Z is 1,000 mm, at 40 m/min. The head's A axis tilts from -45° to +180° at 100 rpm.
