Overview

The Huron MX 10 M is a five-axis universal-head milling centre with a square working plan: 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in both X and Y, and 1,000 mm in Z. The table is listed as Ø 1,250 x 900 mm and carries 2,000 kg (4,409 lb).

Square travels suit a rotary table. Whatever angle the C axis is at, the head can reach the same distance from centre, which simplifies planning for parts machined on several faces. The table turns at 65 rpm, the fastest C axis among the milling-only MX versions.

The spindle is the MX milling unit, HSK 63-A at 14,000 rpm with 29 kW and 277 Nm. Its characteristic speed is 1,000 rpm. Huron says of the range that it machines hard materials in minimal time, and the torque figure is the basis for that claim. The head tilts from -45° to +180° at 100 rpm with an integrated torque motor.

Pay attention to the installation figures. Without APC the machine is 6,950 mm wide and 8,750 mm deep. With the optional pallet changer the width becomes 10,250 mm while the depth is 8,050 mm, so the APC appears to sit beside the machine and not in front of it. Height is 4,200 mm, or 4,385 mm with APC. The changer holds 60 tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels of the Huron MX 10 M?

X and Y are both 1,200 mm and Z is 1,000 mm. Rapid feedrate is 40 m/min. The table is listed as Ø 1,250 x 900 mm with a 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) admissible load.

02 How does the MX 10 M differ from the MX 10 MT?

The MX 10 MT has a 1,000 mm mill/turn table that spins at 500 rpm and an HSK 100-A spindle with 43 kW and 415 Nm. The MX 10 M has the milling table at 65 rpm and the HSK 63-A spindle with 29 kW and 277 Nm at up to 14,000 rpm.

03 Does the MX 10 M have a pallet changer?
