We do not have a price for the Huron U Mill 6 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron U Mill 6 scales the U Mill concept up to a 630 mm table and 600 kg (1,323 lb) of workpiece. It is a fixed-portal five-axis machining centre with a swivelling rotary table on a cradle, and its travels are 700 x 740 x 550 mm (27.6 x 29.1 x 21.7 in).
What the larger machine adds is room. Y travel exceeds X, at 740 mm against 700 mm, which gives the spindle reach past the table centre when the cradle is tilted. Z is 550 mm. Huron says the travels are optimized to leave a good distance under the spindle nose, which matters once a part sits on a fixture on a tilted table.
The rotary axes slow down with size. A swivels from +20° to -110° at 20 rpm and C rotates at 35 rpm. The spindle is the U Mill standard: ISO 40, 10,000 rpm, 18 kW and 173 Nm with a 1,000 rpm characteristic speed. Rapids are 40 m/min.
At 13,000 kg (28,660 lb) the U Mill 6 is a heavy machine for its envelope, and Huron attributes the mass to a ribbed cast-iron portal designed for harmonic stability and damping under demanding cuts. It needs 4,410 x 4,170 mm of floor and 3,540 mm of height. Thirty tools fit the changer. Stated accuracy is 0.015 mm positioning and 0.005 mm repeatability on X, Y and Z.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 600 kg (1,323 lb) on a 630 mm cradle table
- 740 mm of Y travel, more than the 700 mm X
- 173 Nm ISO 40 spindle for steel and cast iron
- 13,000 kg (28,660 lb) cast-iron structure
- Footprint of 4,410 x 4,170 mm, close to that of the smaller U Mill 5
Limitations
- Rotary speeds are 20 rpm on A and 35 rpm on C
- 10,000 rpm maximum limits small-tool finishing
- Tool diameter is capped at 80 mm
- Height of 3,540 mm needs checking against the building

Frequently Asked Questions
01
600 kg (1,323 lb) on a table of 630 mm diameter. The table swivels on a cradle from +20° to -110° and rotates 360°.
02
X, Y and Z travels are 700, 740 and 550 mm (27.6, 29.1 and 21.7 in). All three axes rapid at 40 m/min, and the table under them is 630 mm in diameter.
03
The A axis swivels at 20 rpm and the C axis rotates at 35 rpm. Both are slower than on the U Mill 5, which is listed at 25 rpm and 45 rpm.
04
It weighs 13,000 kg (28,660 lb). With doors opened and conveyor it is 4,410 mm wide, 4,170 mm deep and 3,540 mm high.
05
ISO 40 tooling. The automatic tool changer has 30 housings and accepts tools up to 80 mm in diameter, 300 mm long and 7 kg (15 lb).
