Hartford MCW-12550 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Hartford MCW-12550 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Hartford or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training

Overview

Twelve metres of X travel put the Hartford MCW-12550 in the middle of the MCW moving-column series. The table is 12,000 x 4,000 mm (472.4 x 157.5 in), X travel 12,000 mm (472.4 in), and Y travel 5,500 mm (216.5 in).

The figure to study on any MCW is the table load of 3,000 kg/m². Because the table never moves, Hartford rates it by area. On a table of this size that allows a very heavy part in total, provided the weight is spread: a long fabricated beam resting on supports along its length is fine, a compact forging on a small footprint may not be. Work out the contact area of the fixtures before quoting a job.

A stationary workpiece also explains why this layout is chosen for long parts. The moving mass is the column assembly, which is the same whether the part weighs little or a great deal, so axis behaviour does not change with the load. Hartford drives the X axis with twin servo motors and twin reducers.

Vertical capacity comes from 1,000 mm of Z travel, extendable to 1,200 or 1,400 mm, and a W axis of 1,800 mm or 2,100 mm. The spindle is #50, a gear head for 6,000 or 8,000 rpm or a hybrid for 10,000 rpm.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 12,000 mm (472.4 in) of X travel over a fixed table
  • Moving mass is independent of workpiece weight
  • X axis driven by twin servo motors and twin reducers
  • Z travel up to 1,400 mm and W travel up to 2,100 mm with options

Limitations

  • 3,000 kg/m² limits compact, dense parts on small footprints
  • Y travel of 5,500 mm (216.5 in); wider work needs the MCW-12650
  • Speed range ends at 10,000 rpm
06

Best For

Long fabricated beams supported along their length Bridge, crane and press frame sections up to twelve metres Several medium parts set up in a row on one table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does 3,000 kg/m² mean on the MCW-12550?

It is the table load rating per square metre of table. The table is fixed, so Hartford states no total weight. The load a job puts on the table depends on the area over which the part and its fixtures rest.

02 How long is the MCW-12550?

X travel is 12,000 mm (472.4 in) and the table is 12,000 x 4,000 mm (472.4 x 157.5 in). The table lists no overall machine dimensions, so the installation length has to come from Hartford.

03 What are the neighbouring sizes of the MCW-12550?

The MCW-10550 with 10,000 mm (393.7 in) of X travel and the MCW-14550 with 14,000 mm (551.2 in), both on the same 4,000 mm wide table. The MCW-12650 is the wider twelve-metre model.

04 How is the X axis of the MCW-12550 driven?

By twin servo motors and twin reducers. Hartford states that backlash is reduced to ensure accuracy of 0.01 mm, and lists X/Y-axis ballscrew support among the features of the series.
