How much does the Pinnacle U8 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Pinnacle U8 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Pinnacle U8 is the larger of Pinnacle's two ultrasonic machining centers, with 810 mm (31.9 in) of X travel and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Y and Z. It carries the same ultrasonic BT30 spindle as the U5 in a longer frame.
The extra travel is for bigger plates and for fixtures holding several parts. Hard, brittle workpieces are often thin and produced in batches: glass covers, ceramic substrates, silicon components. A longer table lets more of them be set up at once, within a 300 kg (661 lb) load limit.
The process figures are those of the series. The tool vibrates axially at 20-35 KHz with an amplitude of 1-14 µm, energy is passed to the rotating spindle without contact, and the spindle turns at up to 24,000 rpm on 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp). Pinnacle lists rigid tapping and a spindle oil cooler among the standard accessories and an amplitude measuring device as an option for closed-loop control of the tool amplitude.
Structure is Meehanite cast iron with linear ways and class C3 ball screws. The spindle centre is 562 mm (22.1 in) from the column, further out than on the U5. Weight is 3,600 kg (7,937 lb), floor space 2,200 x 2,380 mm (86.6 x 93.7 in), and the supply 220 V at 15 kVA.

No. Both list a BT30 direct-drive spindle at 24,000 rpm with 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) and a 250 kgf clamping force. The Pinnacle U5 is the shorter machine at 3,400 kg (7,496 lb).
03
Pinnacle says it reduces cutting stress, extends tool life, improves surface finish and cuts down on polishing. The tool vibrates at 20-35 KHz with 1-14 µm amplitude while rotating.
