Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford HCMC-2082 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford HCMC-2082 puts 2,060 mm (81.1 in) of X travel on a single-column, box-guideway vertical machining center. Y travel is 820 mm (32.3 in), the spindle is #50, and the 2,150 x 820 mm (84.6 x 32.3 in) table is rated for 2,600 kg (5,732 lb).
Two metres of travel on box ways is a particular kind of machine. It is slower in rapids than a linear-guide bed mill and it damps vibration better, which is why this format is used for long steel parts: press brake tooling, machine bases, rails, long die inserts. Hartford states that the X axis is supported over its full travel and that X guideway spacing is 35% wider, both of which matter more as the table gets longer.
The working height can be ordered in two versions, with Z travel listed as 660 opt. 820 mm. Spindle drive is by gear head at 4,000 / 6,000 / 8,000 rpm or by DDS at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm, with motors of 11 / 15 kW, 15 / 18.5 kW or 22 / 26 kW (Cont. / 30 min). The first of those is the base rating and the other two are options.
Tools are BT50 in an arm-type magazine of 24, with 30, 32 or 40 listed as alternatives. Two chip screws run in the base. Hartford quotes thermal displacement within 15 μm for a temperature difference within 8℃, a useful figure on a casting this long.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,060 mm (81.1 in) of X travel with full support along the X axis
- 2,600 kg (5,732 lb) table load on a 2,150 x 820 mm (84.6 x 32.3 in) table
- #50 gear head at 4,000 / 6,000 / 8,000 rpm for low-speed heavy cuts
- Optional 22 / 26 kW spindle motor (Cont. / 30 min)
- Stated thermal displacement within 15 μm at a temperature difference within 8℃
Limitations
- Y travel stays at 820 mm (32.3 in) despite the two-metre X axis
- Standard Z travel is 660 mm; the 820 mm stroke is an option
- No spindle faster than 12,000 rpm is listed
- Box guideways on a table this long mean lower rapids than linear-guide machines, and Hartford publishes no rate

2,060 mm (81.1 in). Y travel is 820 mm (32.3 in) and Z travel is 660 mm, or 820 mm as an option. The table measures 2,150 x 820 mm (84.6 x 32.3 in).
02
The average load rating is 2,600 kg (5,732 lb). For comparison within the line, the HCMC-2110 is rated for 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) on a deeper 2,250 x 1,020 mm (88.6 x 40.2 in) table.
03
The gear head. It is listed at 4,000 / 6,000 / 8,000 rpm and uses a two-step gear transmission in a gearbox Hartford makes itself, described as giving great force output at low speed. The DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm is the finishing alternative.
04
Hartford lists dual screws on the base to remove chips more efficiently. On a table more than two metres long that keeps chips from piling up beside the work, although the type of conveyor behind the screws is not described on the page.
