How much does the Hartford HSA-828 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford HSA-828 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford HSA-828 is the narrowest of three eight-metre HSA double-column machining centers. X travel is 8,000 mm (315.0 in), Y travel 2,800 mm (110.2 in), and the 8,000 x 2,500 mm (315.0 x 98.4 in) table is rated for 27,000 kg (59,524 lb).
Eight metres is the longest table Hartford lists on a moving-table bridge machine. Beyond it the range switches to moving-column designs with a fixed floor table. The HSA-828 therefore serves the longest parts that can still travel under a fixed bridge: crane girders, machine tool beds, long press frames, turbine and generator base frames.
Hartford's table for this model matches the HSA-728 in every row except length and load. Three linear guideways on X, a #50 spindle in gear (6,000 / 8,000 rpm), DDS (10,000 / 12,000 rpm) or built-in (12,000 rpm) form, and motors of 15 / 18.5 kW with options up to 30 /37 kW.
Z travel is 780 mm, with 1,000 mm and 1,200 mm as options. The magazine is an arm type with 32 tools, or 40 or 60, and the shanks are BT-50. Hartford states self-made spindles with deflection within 5μm and direct-drive servo motors on the three linear axes.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X travel on a moving-table bridge machine
- 27,000 kg (59,524 lb) table load
- Three X-axis linear guideways and supported X ballscrew
- Three #50 spindle drives: gear, DDS and built-in
- Self-made spindle with deflection within 5μm, per Hartford
Limitations
- Y travel of 2,800 mm (110.2 in) is narrow for an eight-metre machine
- Z travel of 780 mm as standard
- Y-axis ballscrew support is optional on x28 models
- A moving eight-metre table needs a very long installation area
