Overview
The Akira Seiki V5.5XP is the largest 40-taper machine in the V series before the range jumps to the bridge-sized V6XP. It offers 1,350 mm (53 in) of X travel, 640 mm (25 in) of Y and 660 mm (26 in) of Z, with a 1,500 x 600 mm (59 x 23.6 in) table.
Table capacity is the headline. Standard loading is 1,500 kg (3,307 lb); maximum loading is 1,800 kg (3,968 lb). Five 18 mm T-slots at 100 mm pitch run the length of the table, and there is 100~760 mm (4~30 in) from spindle nose to table surface. A large mould half or a welded frame fits, and so do two smaller jobs set up side by side.
Spindle taper is listed as BT40 / CAT40 on this model, the only V-series page that names both. Power follows the series pattern: 30 HP (22.4 kW) peak and 10,000 rpm for the V, 35 HP (26.1 kW) peak and 12,000 rpm for the XP, 8,000 rpm as an option.
The 28T arm changer swaps tools in 2.2 s and takes holders up to 7 kg (15 lb). Coolant tank capacity is 400 L (105.7 gal); chip disposal is drawer or chip screw. The supply needed is 30 kVA with 0.5 MPa (72.5 psi) air, the same as the V3XP at the bottom of this spindle class.
