Overview

The Goodway GVB-3000 is the largest machine Goodway lists: a bridge-type vertical turning center with a Ø3,000 mm (118.1 in) table, Ø3,500 mm (137.8 in) of turning diameter and 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) of table load, with 45,000 kg (99,206 lb) available as an option. Maximum spindle torque is 169,700 Nm (125,171 lb-ft).

The B in the name marks a different structure from the GVH models. Goodway describes it as a W-axis four-guideway bridge type, and the long W travel shows why: the cross rail moves between 1,200 mm (47.2 in) and 2,800 mm (110.2 in) depending on the version, for turning heights from 1,600 mm (63.0 in) up to 3,200 mm (126.0 in). Ram travel is 1,500 mm (59.1 in) or 1,800 mm (70.9 in) and X travel 3,950 mm (155.5 in).

Two motors drive the table. The table lists them as 39 kW (52.3 hp) × 2 or 58 kW (77.8 hp) × 2 continuous, and 45 kW (60.3 hp) × 2 or 70 kW (93.9 hp) × 2 for 30 min. Goodway explains that the double spindle motors of the GVB series also form the Cs-axis: driving against each other they remove gear backlash and double the torque.

This is also the only model in the range with a SIEMENS SINUMERIK 840D sl control. The ram takes BT50 or BT60 tooling from a 16-tool magazine, and the optional tooling spindle is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous and 18 kW (24.1 hp) for 30 min. Swing is Ø3,700 mm (145.7 in).
