Overview
The Miyano ABX-65SYY is a two-spindle multitasking lathe with two 12-station turrets, each fitted with a Y axis, and every one of its 24 stations able to take a revolving tool. A Mitsubishi M80W dual-path control runs the two turrets on separate paths. Citizen's current lineup does not include the ABX-65SYY, so it is mainly a used-machine purchase.
Y on both turrets is what defines the SYY layout. Each turret has an 80 (±40) mm Y stroke and 190mm of X, so off-centre holes, flats and slots can be machined at the main spindle and at the second spindle without moving the job to a mill. Z travel is 550mm on the first turret and 721mm on the second. Revolving tools run 60 - 6,000min-1 and the revolving-tool motor is rated AC Servo 4.5kW, which is adequate for drilling, tapping and moderate milling but not for heavy face milling.
The spindle end faces are 1031 mm apart and the Zs axis has a 756mm stroke with a 30m/min rapid, so the second spindle has room to approach, grip the part and pull it clear. The main spindle has an A2-8 nose, the second an A2-6, both with 6" hydraulic chucks; chuck work is listed to 300 mm (11.81 in) in diameter and the collet chucks are of the stationary type.
Tools are 20mm Sq. for turning and mount in ø25 mm holes, and the listed drill shanks are 40mm, 20mm and 25mm Dia. Plan the site for a machine of 10,900kg and 2,222mm in height.
