Goodway GS-4300 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Goodway GS-4300 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Goodway or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Oil-country and large-tube work is what the Goodway GS-4300 is specified for. It is the big-bore version of the GS-4000, with Ø165 mm (6.5 in) of bar capacity and 20 in or 24 in chucks on the same geared, box-way machine.

Nothing else in Goodway's table separates the two models. The GS-4300 has the 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous, 37 kW (49.6 hp) 30 min. motor, a Ø770 mm (30.3 in) swing, Ø650 mm (25.6 in) of turning diameter and 360 mm (14.2 in) of X travel. Four beds provide 850 mm (33.5 in), 1,600 mm (63.0 in), 2,400 mm (94.5 in) or 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Z1 travel.

A caution on length. The turning lengths Goodway prints, 800 mm (31.5 in) up to 3,100 mm (122.0 in), are marked as valid for a 15 in chuck, which is a GS-4000 chuck size. With a 20 in or 24 in chuck on this model the usable length will be shorter, and the table does not say by how much. Ask for the figure with the chuck you intend to run.

The structure is described as large hardened box ways with a wide span on a 30° slant bed, with a 12 or 10-station servo turret that Goodway says has an extra-large disk. Either a programmable or a high-thrust servo tailstock can be fitted, along with manual or self-centering steady rests, which matter on tube that would otherwise whip. Driven tools, a Y-axis with 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel and a 4,800 rpm sub-spindle are optional.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Ø165 mm (6.5 in) bar capacity with 20 in or 24 in chucks
  • 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous and 37 kW (49.6 hp) 30 min. motor through a 2-speed gearbox
  • Z1 travel up to 3,200 mm (126.0 in)
  • Programmable or high-thrust servo tailstock, with manual or self-centering steady rests

Limitations

  • Printed turning lengths apply to a 15 in chuck, not to the 20 in or 24 in chucks of this model
  • No maximum spindle speed is given in the table
  • Turning diameter is Ø650 mm (25.6 in), the same as the smaller-bore GS-4000
  • Live tooling, Y-axis and sub-spindle cost extra

Best For

Pipe, tube and couplings up to Ø165 mm (6.5 in) through the spindle Large-diameter chucking on 20 in or 24 in chucks Long tubular parts supported by steady rests

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the spindle bore capacity of the GS-4300?

Goodway lists a bar capacity of Ø165 mm (6.5 in) and chuck sizes of 20 in or 24 in. The GS-4000, its sibling, passes Ø115 mm (4.5 in) with 15 in or 18 in chucks.

02 How long are the beds on the GS-4300?

Z1-axis travel is 850 mm (33.5 in), 1,600 mm (63.0 in), 2,400 mm (94.5 in) or 3,200 mm (126.0 in). The turning lengths printed beside them, up to 3,100 mm (122.0 in), are stated for a 15 in chuck, so expect less with the larger chucks of this model.

03 Does the GS-4300 have a sub-spindle option?

Yes. The optional sub-spindle is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) for 15 min., at 4,800 rpm, and Goodway describes it with an 8 in chuck. ZS-axis travel is listed as 800 mm (31.5 in) or 1,550 mm (61.0 in) for the two shorter beds only.

04 What kind of ways and turret does the GS-4300 use?

Large hardened box ways with a wide span on X and Z, on a 30° slant bed. The turret is a servo-indexed unit with 12 or 10 stations and, in Goodway's words, an extra-large turret disk diameter. A 12-station ER40 live tooling turret is optional.
