Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer TC-160V that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer TC-160V has 160 in (4,064 mm) of X travel and is the longest TC-V model that drives its X axis with a ballscrew. The two longer machines switch to rack and pinion, and their accuracy rows loosen with it. For a buyer who needs length and the tighter figure, this is the model to look at first.
The figures in question: positioning accuracy of +/- 0.0002 in (0.0051 mm) and repeatability of +/- 0.0001 in (0.0025 mm) on the TC-160V, against +/- 0.0003 in (0.0076 mm) on the TC-240V. Fryer also lists Heidenhain tape scale feedback for the X axis on models with 160" - 240" of X travel, for work where positions along the bed must hold over the full stroke.
The fixed table measures 160 x 24 in (4,064 x 610 mm) and carries 10,000 lb (4,536 kg). The column travels at 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min) and cutting feed reaches 600 ipm (15.2 m/min), so long aluminium extrusions and steel rails can be machined in a single clamping at reasonable cycle times. Peak axis thrust is 4,955 lb on X, Y and Z.
Physically the machine is 310 in (7,874 mm) wide in operation and weighs 40,000 lb (18,144 kg). The chip conveyor system for TC machines of 160" - 320" and the full machine guard for 120" - 160" are the matching options. Spindle and changer are the series standard, CAT 40 at 60 - 8,500 rpm with 24 tools.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
For accuracy and drive type, if 160 in (4,064 mm) of travel is enough. The TC-160V uses a ballscrew on X with +/- 0.0002 in (0.0051 mm) positioning accuracy. The TC-240V uses rack and pinion on X with +/- 0.0003 in (0.0076 mm) and has 240 in (6,096 mm) of travel.
02
The options sheet lists Heidenhain tape scale feedback with 0.000050" resolution for the X axis on models with 160" - 240" of X travel. The standard machine uses AC digital brushless servos, and Fryer's control uses absolute encoders.
03
Operating dimensions are 310 x 138 x 118 in (7,874 x 3,505 x 2,997 mm) and the weight is 40,000 lb (18,144 kg). The fixed table is 160 x 24 in (4,064 x 610 mm) and 38 in (965 mm) above the floor.
