Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer MC-60L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 60 in (1,524 mm) of X travel the Fryer MC-60L is the longest linear way machining center in the MC-L series. It pairs a 24 x 67 in (610 x 1,702 mm) table with a 10,000 rpm Big Plus CAT 40 spindle, 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak, and it moves at 1,200 ipm (30.5 m/min) on all three axes, Z included.
That Z rapid is one of the few places where it separates from the box way MC-60B, which is listed at 900 ipm (22.9 m/min) in Z. Otherwise the two share an envelope: 30 in (762 mm) of Y, 28 in (711 mm) of Z, a 4,500 lb (2,041 kg) table and 20,000 lb (9,072 kg) of machine. The MC-60L adds six tools, halves the tool change to 1.5 seconds and raises the cutting feed limit to 1,200 ipm.
Extended travels are available here as on the box way model. The options sheet lists an extended 35 in (889 mm) Y travel and an extended 38 in (965 mm) Z travel for the MC-60. Fryer's table shows the effect in brackets: spindle centre to column goes from 31 in (787 mm) to 36 in (914 mm), and the maximum spindle nose to table distance from 32 in to 42 in.
Long aluminium parts are the natural work. Aerospace-style rails, extrusions and plates need the stroke, the spindle speed and a feed rate that can keep a small cutter loaded over a long path. Chip handling should be specified with the machine, since the chip auger and chip conveyor are separate options.
