Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer MC-60B that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer MC-60B moves the MC-B series from mid-size into large-part territory. X travel is 60 in (1,524 mm), the table is 24 x 67 in (610 x 1,702 mm) and the machine weighs 20,000 lb (9,072 kg). It is also the largest model in the series that keeps a cutting feed rate of up to 900 ipm (22.9 m/min); on the MC-80B the limit is 400 ipm (10.2 m/min).
Two travels on this model are configurable. Standard Y is 30 in (762 mm) and standard Z is 28 in (711 mm). Fryer's options sheet lists an extended 35 in (889 mm) Y travel, which moves the spindle 36 in from the column, and an extended 38 in (965 mm) Z travel. Neither is part of the base machine, so the travel needed has to be settled when the machine is ordered.
Is the table strong enough for the envelope? Fryer rates it at 4,500 lb (2,041 kg) evenly distributed, with 5 T-slots, and the top sits 32 in (813 mm) above the floor, lower than on the MC-40B and MC-45B. The door opens 62 in (1,575 mm), so a part as long as the X stroke can be craned in from the front.
The spindle rows are shared with the rest of the series: CAT 40, 60 - 8,500 rpm, 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak and 155 ft-lb (210 Nm) at 350 rpm. On a machine this size the options matter more. A CAT 50 spindle at 6,000 rpm is listed, with a 24 station changer for 50 taper tools up to 33 lbs., and the 40 hp motor brings 204 ft-lb (277 Nm).
