Overview
The HNK HPM-15M (15x30) opens HNK's five-face double column series. On a 1,500 x 3,000 mm (59.1 x 118.1 in) table it carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), half as much again as the die and mold HPM-15H of the same size.
Five-face machining means cutting the top of a part and its four sides in one clamping, so that bores and faces on different sides stay square to each other without re-setting. HNK calls the series a five-face precision machining system for precision and heavy-duty work, and credits its rigid body construction. The page does not describe the head or attachment that reaches the sides, which is the first thing to clarify in a quotation.
The spindle is Ø130 mm (5.1 in) with an ISO No.50 taper, in a 380 x 380 mm (15.0 x 15.0 in) ram. Three motor ratings are listed: 22/26, 30/37 and 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp), cont/30min. The speed cell is not printed cleanly for this series and is left out.
Travels are 3,250 mm (128.0 in) in X, 3,200 mm (126.0 in) in Y, 800 mm (31.5 in) in Z and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in W, with 2,200 mm (86.6 in) between columns. Fanuc 31i-B and Siemens 840D are offered.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) on a 1,500 x 3,000 mm (59.1 x 118.1 in) table
- Ø130 mm (5.1 in) spindle with ISO No.50 taper
- Motor ratings up to 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp)
- Y travel of 3,200 mm (126.0 in) across 2,200 mm (86.6 in) columns
Limitations
- The five-face head or attachment is not described on the maker's page
- No clean spindle speed figure in the published table
- Crossrail travel of 1,000 mm (39.4 in) is the shortest in the HPM-M series

Frequently Asked Questions
01
HNK titles the HPM-M series a five-face precision machining system. In practice that is machining of the top and the four vertical sides of a workpiece in one set-up. The specification table lists a single ISO No.50 spindle and does not detail the side-milling attachment.
02
The row gives three pairs: 22/26, 30/37 and 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp), each as continuous and 30-min ratings. It is a starred row, which HNK says can be changed according to the customer's requirements.
03
The HPM-15H is the die and mold version with a Ø100 mm (3.9 in) spindle at 6,000 rpm, 22/25 kW (29.5/33.5 hp) and 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) of table load. The HPM-15M has a Ø130 mm spindle, larger motors and 15,000 kg.
04
X 3,250 mm (128.0 in), Y 3,200 mm (126.0 in), Z 800 mm (31.5 in) on the ram and W 1,000 mm (39.4 in) on the crossrail. The effective distance between columns is 2,200 mm (86.6 in).
