Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fehlmann PICOMAX 75 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fehlmann PICOMAX 75 is a compact vertical-column machining center that Fehlmann designed for 5-axis work from the start but also sells as a pure 3-axis machine. Travels are 600 mm (23.6 in) in X, 400 mm (15.7 in) in Y and 610 mm (24.0 in) in Z, over a clamping surface of 1,160 x 475 mm.
The unusual figure is Z. 610 mm of vertical travel on a machine with 400 mm of Y is there to clear a dividing and swivelling unit sitting on the table, and the table-to-spindle-nose distance of 125 - 735 mm says the same. The specification gives B as -10° to 120° and C as 0° to 360°, and up to 5 axes are integrated in the control. Bought as a 3-axis machine, it can take the 4th and 5th axes as a retrofit.
Four motor spindles are offered, rated at S6 (40% ED). The 50 - 14,000 rpm and 50 - 20,000 rpm versions have 10.5 kW (14.1 hp), the 50 - 30,000 rpm version 13.7 kW (18.4 hp), and the 50 - 36,000 rpm version 19.5 kW (26.1 hp). Unusually, the fastest spindle is also the strongest. Glass scales with compressed air are standard on the axes, and the spindle is actively cooled. For regular work in graphite, ceramics and hardened parts Fehlmann offers special GRAPHITE models with extra scrapers and a closed cooling system for the switchgear cabinet.
The tool changer has 50 places, optionally 80, and is loaded from the operator side while the machine runs. Maximum feed rate with interpolation is 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) on all axes. At 5,300 kg (11,684 lb) and 2.3 / 2.1 / 2.95 m of installation space, it is the smaller of the two vertical-column PICOMAX machines; the PICOMAX 95 weighs 8,600 kg. The control is a Heidenhain TNC7.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 610 mm (24.0 in) of Z travel on a compact machine, sized for a dividing and swivelling unit
- Four spindle versions up to 36,000 rpm, the fastest with 19.5 kW (26.1 hp)
- Tool changer with 50 places, optionally 80, loadable from the operator side during machining
- Glass scales with compressed air for direct position measurement as standard
- Can be ordered as a 3-axis machine and retrofitted with 4th and 5th axes
- Power units switch off automatically when they are not in use
Limitations
- The 14,000 and 20,000 rpm spindles have 10.5 kW (14.1 hp), less than half the 26.3 kW offered on the PICOMAX 95
- Y travel is 400 mm (15.7 in) and the clamping surface 475 mm wide, which limits plate work
- 5-axis capability depends on adding a dividing and swivelling unit to the table
- High-pressure through-spindle coolant, chip conveyor and minimum-quantity lubrication are options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Either. Fehlmann designed the machine construction, Z travel, geometry and control for 5-axis machining with its own dividing and swivelling units, and up to 5 axes are fully integrated in the control. The PICOMAX 75 can also be ordered as a pure 3-axis milling machine, with the 4th and 5th axes retrofitted later if required.
02
Four, with maximum speeds of 14,000, 20,000, 30,000 and 36,000 rpm. The first two are rated 10.5 kW (14.1 hp), the 30,000 rpm spindle 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) and the 36,000 rpm spindle 19.5 kW (26.1 hp), all at S6 (40% ED). The table states no torque, so ask for the torque curve if the work includes roughing.
03
Yes. For regular working of graphite, ceramics and hardened parts, Fehlmann offers special GRAPHITE models. According to the maker these include guideways and spindles with special scrapers, and a switchgear cabinet with a closed cooling system. Graphite disposal is also named among the options on the product page.
04
The automatic tool changer has 50 places, with 80 places as an option; the specification row reads 50/80. It can be loaded from the operator side during machining, so tools for the next job can be prepared while the current one is still running.
05
The PICOMAX 95 is the larger machine, with 800 x 500 x 610 mm travels, a 1,600 x 550 mm clamping surface and spindles of up to 26.3 kW that stop at 24,000 rpm. The PICOMAX 75 has 600 x 400 x 610 mm, a 1,160 x 475 mm surface and spindles up to 36,000 rpm. Z travel, 610 mm, is the same on both.
