Overview

Four metres by two: the Feeler SVW-4223 offers a 4,000 × 2,000 mm (157.5 × 78.7 in) table, 4,200 mm (165.4 in) of X travel and a 15 ton load rating.

At this size the workpieces are usually single large items rather than batches: bases for machine tools, bolsters, large welded frames, energy-sector components. Getting such a part onto the table, levelled and clamped takes hours, so the point of a multi-face machine is that it then stays there. Feeler offers an optional automatic attachment change system for the series, described as reducing manual changeover time and minimizing machining errors. With the right heads the top, the sides and angled features are finished from one datum.

The structure is described as box-type with reinforced ribs, and the table as supported over its full travel. Each table is precision milled in several steps before assembly.

In figures: X rapid 12 m/min (472 ipm), Y and Z 15 m/min (591 ipm); spindle 6,000 rpm on BT/DIN/CAT 50 through a two-speed gearbox, or 8,000-15,000 rpm with #40 in brackets; Z travel 800 mm (31.5 in) or 1,000 mm (39.4 in); magazine 24, 32, 40 or 60 tools. The neighbouring SVW-4222 has the same load and travels on a table 1,800 mm wide.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 4,000 × 2,000 mm (157.5 × 78.7 in) table, the largest table size in the SVW series, shared with the SVW-4225
  • 15 ton maximum load for single large workpieces
  • Optional automatic attachment change for finishing several faces from one datum
  • Box-type ribbed structure with a table supported over its full travel

Limitations

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large a part fits on the Feeler SVW-4223?

The table is 4,000 mm by 2,000 mm (157.5 × 78.7 in) and carries up to 15 ton. X travel is 4,200 mm (165.4 in) and Z travel 800 mm, or 1,000 mm as the bracketed alternative. Y travel is not listed on this page.

02 What separates it from the SVW-4225?

Nothing in the rows shown here. Both columns give the same X travel, table, load, rapids, spindle and magazine. The model numbers differ, and the Y-axis travel of each should be confirmed with Feeler before choosing.

03 What attachment options exist?

Feeler names an optional automatic attachment change system that reduces manual changeover time, improves productivity and minimizes machining errors. Which heads it changes is not stated on the series page.

04 How fast is the spindle?

6,000 rpm for the listed geared spindle with a BT/DIN/CAT 50 taper. The bracketed alternative is 8,000-15,000 rpm with #40, a lighter spindle for higher surface speeds.
