Feeler VMP-30 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler VMP-30 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Long in X and shallow in Y, the Feeler VMP-30 offers 760 mm (29.9 in) of X travel over an 890 x 420 mm (35.0 x 16.5 in) table. Y travel is 420 mm (16.5 in), Z is 510 mm (20.1 in), and the spindle is a 10,000 rpm unit with a 7/24 No.40 taper.

It is the last of the light VMP models. Table load is 300 kg (661 lb) and the magazine holds 18 tools, exactly as on the shorter VMP-23, and all three axes rapid at 36 m/min (1,417 ipm). The next size, the VMP-32, moves to 520 mm of Y, 800 kg of load and 22 tools, so there is a clear break in the series between this machine and everything above it.

The proportions decide the work. Three vises fit in a row. A rotary unit and tailstock fit lengthwise with room left for a vise. Plates deeper than 420 mm do not fit inside the travel at all. Shops that mostly run bar-sawn blanks, small housings and brackets will rarely feel the Y limit, and will notice the fast Z on every peck-drilling and tapping cycle.

Feeler describes the VMP series as built for structural rigidity and cutting stability, with a cast iron body, an A-frame column and an enlarged base, hardened linear guides and Turcite B wear pads. It names automotive component machining and general industrial parts as the target. The table publishes neither spindle power nor machine weight.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 760 mm (29.9 in) of X travel on an 890 mm long table
  • Z rapid of 36 m/min (1,417 ipm), equal to X and Y
  • Table depth of 420 mm is fully covered by 420 mm of Y travel
  • 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z leaves room above a rotary unit or tall vise jaws

Limitations

  • Y travel is 420 mm (16.5 in), the same as the smallest model
  • 300 kg (661 lb) table load on a table long enough to invite more
  • 18 tools, where the VMP-32 carries 22
  • 10,000 rpm is the only spindle speed listed for this model
06

Best For

Rows of vises holding small blanks Fourth-axis work with tailstock along an 890 mm table Brackets, small housings and general parts under 420 mm deep Drilling and tapping work that rewards a quick Z axis

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the work envelope of the Feeler VMP-30?

760 mm (29.9 in) in X, 420 mm (16.5 in) in Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Z. The table is 890 x 420 mm (35.0 x 16.5 in) and carries up to 300 kg (661 lb).

02 Should I look at the VMP-32 instead?

If parts are deep or heavy, yes. The VMP-32 has 820 mm of X, 520 mm of Y, a 950 x 520 mm table rated 800 kg and 22 tools, with X and Y rapids of 40 m/min. The VMP-32 Z rapid is 30 m/min, slower than the 36 m/min here.

03 What spindle taper and speed does it have?

A 7/24 taper No.40 at 10,000 rpm. Feeler's series text refers to a 10,000 rpm high-speed spindle and does not state the drive type, power or torque on the page, so those need to come from a quotation or brochure.

04 Why is the Z axis as fast as X and Y?

Feeler says the Z axis of the VMP series has a higher-power motor with a balance-free design, paired with a high-speed servo direct-drive preloaded ball screw. On the VMP-30 the result in the table is 36 m/min on Z, the same as on X and Y.
