Feeler VMX-760 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler VMX-760 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Take the VMX-580, lengthen the table and the X axis, and you have the Feeler VMX-760. X travel is 760 mm (29.9 in) over an 890 x 420 mm (35.0 x 16.5 in) table, while Y stays at 420 mm (16.5 in) and Z at 510 mm (20.1 in). Nothing else in Feeler's table moves: the spindle is the same 12,000 rpm No.40 unit, the magazine still holds 20 tools, and the table is still rated for 300 kg (661 lb).

That makes this a long, narrow machine. The table is more than twice as long as it is deep, which suits two or three vises in a row, long bar-shaped parts, or a rotary unit at one end with a tailstock at the other. It does not suit deep plates. A part that needs more than 420 mm of Y belongs on the VMX-820, which has 520 mm of Y and an 800 kg table.

Rapid traverse is 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) in X and Y and 32 m/min (1,260 ipm) in Z. The longer X axis keeps the same rapid rate as the shorter machine, so the extra travel does not slow moves between stations.

Keep the load rating in view when planning multi-vise setups. 300 kg spread over three vises and their parts is reachable, and the longer table makes it tempting to add more. Feeler describes the VMX-760 as compact yet rigid and aimed at high-speed machining of small parts, on a Meehanite cast iron structure with a direct-drive spindle.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 760 mm (29.9 in) of X travel and an 890 mm long table at the same 48 m/min X rapid as the shorter VMX-580
  • Table length suits several vises in a row or a rotary unit with tailstock
  • 12,000 rpm direct-drive spindle with a 7/24 No.40 taper
  • Y travel of 420 mm covers the full 420 mm table depth
  • Meehanite cast iron construction with an A-frame reinforced column base, as Feeler describes the series

Limitations

  • Y travel is only 420 mm (16.5 in); deeper parts need the VMX-820 with 520 mm
  • Table load stays at 300 kg (661 lb) although the table is longer than the VMX-580's
  • 20-tool magazine, four fewer than the 24 of the VMX-820
  • No spindle power, torque or machine weight in the maker's series table

Best For

Multi-vise setups of small parts along an 890 mm table Long, narrow parts within 760 mm of X and 420 mm of Y Fourth-axis work with a rotary unit and tailstock on one table High-speed machining of small parts at up to 12,000 rpm

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the table size of the Feeler VMX-760?

890 x 420 mm (35.0 x 16.5 in), with a maximum loading weight of 300 kg (661 lb). X travel is 760 mm, so the spindle does not reach the last part of the table length at each end, which is normally where the clamps sit.

02 Should I choose the VMX-760 or the VMX-820?

It depends on depth and weight. The VMX-820 has 820 mm of X, 520 mm of Y, 560 mm of Z, an 800 kg table and 24 tools, but its X and Y rapids are 40 m/min. The VMX-760 is faster at 48 m/min and is enough when the parts stay inside 420 mm of Y and 300 kg.

03 How fast are the axes?

Feeler lists rapid traverse of 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) for X and for Y, and 32 m/min (1,260 ipm) for Z. Cutting feed rates and acceleration are not published in the series table.

04 What kind of spindle does the VMX-760 use?

The table gives 12,000 rpm and a 7/24 taper No.40. The series text calls it a high-speed direct-drive spindle and refers to a 12,000 rpm BBT40 spindle, so dual-contact BBT holders are the intended tooling. Motor power is not stated.
