Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler VMP-23 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Feeler VMP-23 is the entry model of the VMP series, a small 40-taper vertical machining center with 580 mm (22.8 in) of X, 420 mm (16.5 in) of Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z travel. Its spindle runs to 10,000 rpm and the tool magazine holds 18 tools.
All three axes rapid at 36 m/min (1,417 ipm). That is unusual in this family, where the larger VMP models slow the Z axis, and it comes from the design Feeler describes for the series: a Z axis with a higher-power motor and no counterbalance, driven through a directly coupled, preloaded ball screw. Short drilling and tapping cycles gain most from a quick Z.
The table is 650 x 420 mm (25.6 x 16.5 in) and rated for 300 kg (661 lb). One vise and a small fourth axis, or a pair of vises, is a realistic setup. Feeler builds the VMP machines from cast iron with an A-frame column and an enlarged base, and says the series uses hardened linear guides with Turcite B wear pads.
Where does it sit against the maker's other small VMCs? The VMX-580 has the same travels and table but lists 12,000 rpm, 48 m/min X and Y rapids and 20 tools. The VMP-23 is the plainer machine of the two, with a belt-and-braces specification aimed at general parts and automotive components, the uses Feeler names for the series. Spindle power and torque are not in the published table.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) rapid traverse on all three axes, Z included
- 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z travel on a machine with 580 mm of X
- Balance-free Z axis with a higher-power motor and direct-drive preloaded ball screw, per Feeler
- Y travel of 420 mm covers the full depth of the 650 x 420 mm table
Limitations
- 18-tool magazine, the smallest in the VMP series
- Spindle speed is 10,000 rpm, where the same-size VMX-580 lists 12,000 rpm
- Table load is limited to 300 kg (661 lb)
- No spindle power, torque or tool-change time in the maker's table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels of 580 x 420 x 510 mm (22.8 x 16.5 x 20.1 in), a 650 x 420 mm table rated 300 kg (661 lb), a 10,000 rpm spindle with 7/24 taper No.40, 36 m/min rapids on X, Y and Z, and 18 tools.

The VMP-30 is the same machine with a longer X axis: 760 mm of travel and an 890 x 420 mm table. Y, Z, the 300 kg load, the spindle, the rapids and the 18-tool magazine are the same in Feeler's table.
03
Feeler's series text says the machines are equipped with hardened linear guides and use low-friction Turcite B wear pads to enhance cutting rigidity and surface finish. The table itself has no guideway row, so confirm the arrangement for the model you are offered.
04
Yes, the VMP-23APC. It keeps the travels, spindle and 18-tool magazine and replaces the fixed table with 580 x 410 mm pallets. The VMP-23APC load rating is 120 kg per pallet.
