Overview

The Hwacheon Hi-M G2+ is the 40-taper member of the Hi-M family: a vertical machining center with a 20,000 rpm BT 40 built-in spindle rated 20 kW (26.8 hp), 1,200 x 800 x 500 mm (47.2 x 31.5 x 19.7 in) of travel and a 1,300 x 800 mm (51.2 x 31.5 in) table that carries 800 kg (1,764 lb). Where the smaller Hi-M models run HSK-E40 or BT-30 tools, the G2+ takes BT-40 shanks with MAS 403-1982-BT/PT1 (45°) pull studs and tools up to 8 kg (17.6 lb), so it can drive the larger cutters that steel and mould plates need.

The Hwacheon Hi-M1300 sits on the same 1,300 x 800 mm (51.2 x 31.5 in) table, but with a BT-30 spindle of 6 kW (8.0 hp), 12.5 kW (16.8 hp) optional, and a 300 kg (661 lb) table load. The Hwacheon Hi-M1300 runs faster, at 24,000 rpm or 30,000 rpm depending on the spindle version. Choose the G2+ when the work is heavier and the cutters bigger, and the Hi-M1300 when the parts are light and the tools small.

The magazine holds 16 tools as standard, with 24 or 32 as options, all by fixed address. Tools may be up to Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in), or Ø75 mm (Ø3.0 in) with the 32-tool magazine, and 200 mm (7.9 in) long. Z travel of 500 mm (19.7 in), with the spindle nose 80 ~ 580 mm (3.1 ~ 22.8 in) above the table, leaves room for a vise and a tall part. Rapids are 25 / 25 / 20 m/min (984 / 984 / 787 ipm) and cutting feed reaches 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm). The spindle is grease lubricated and jacket cooled by an oil cooler.

Control is SIEMENS-828D or FANUC 0i-MF, and the choice changes the installation: 380V, 60Hz and 2,830 x 3,080 mm (111.4 x 121.3 in) of floor for SIEMENS, 220V, 60Hz and 2,830 x 3,130 mm (111.4 x 123.2 in) for FANUC. Both need 50 kVA, stand 3,000 mm (118.1 in) high and weigh 9,500 kg (20,944 lb). The spindle coolant tank holds 30 L (8 US gal).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the Hi-M G2+ compare with the Hi-M1300?

Both have a 1,300 x 800 mm (51.2 x 31.5 in) table. The Hwacheon Hi-M1300 uses a BT-30 spindle of 6 kW (8.0 hp), 12.5 kW (16.8 hp) optional, at 24,000 rpm or 30,000 rpm, and rates the table at 300 kg (661 lb). The G2+ uses a 20 kW (26.8 hp) BT 40 spindle at 20,000 rpm and rates the table at 800 kg (1,764 lb).

02 What tools does the Hi-M G2+ take?

BT-40 shanks with MAS 403-1982-BT/PT1 (45°) pull studs. The standard magazine holds 16 tools, with 24 or 32 as options. Tools can be up to Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in), or Ø75 mm (Ø3.0 in) with the 32-tool magazine, 200 mm (7.9 in) long and 8 kg (17.6 lb).

03 What does the choice of control change on the Hi-M G2+?

The supply and the footprint. The SIEMENS-828D version runs on 380V, 60Hz and occupies 2,830 x 3,080 mm (111.4 x 121.3 in). The FANUC 0i-MF version runs on 220V, 60Hz and occupies 2,830 x 3,130 mm (111.4 x 123.2 in). Both need 50 kVA.

04 How much clearance is there under the Hi-M G2+ spindle?

Z travel is 500 mm (19.7 in), and the distance from spindle nose to table runs from 80 ~ 580 mm (3.1 ~ 22.8 in). Subtract the vise or fixture height and the tool length, up to 200 mm (7.9 in), to see what part height fits.
