Overview

The Feeler SVW-4225 is the last column of the SVW table and the largest machine in it: 4,200 mm (165.4 in) of X travel, a 4,000 × 2,000 mm (157.5 × 78.7 in) table and a 15 ton load.

Buying at the top of a range raises a planning question more than a machining one. A machine of this size is installed, not delivered. The series table gives no machine weight, floor space, foundation or power figure, and those decide the building work, the crane and the electrical supply. Ask for the foundation drawing and the connected load with the first quotation.

On capability the listed rows are the same as the SVW-4223's. Both share the table size and the 15 ton rating, and the difference between them is in the Y-axis row, which is not listed on this page. If the widest parts are close to the two-metre table, the Y stroke and column clearance of each model should be compared directly.

The rest is the series standard. The geared two-speed spindle runs to 6,000 rpm on a BT/DIN/CAT 50 taper, with 8,000-15,000 rpm and #40 bracketed. X rapid is 12 m/min (472 ipm), Y and Z 15 m/min (591 ipm). Z travel is 800 mm (31.5 in), or 1,000 mm (39.4 in), and the magazine takes 24 tools with 32, 40 or 60 as alternatives. An automatic attachment change system is optional.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the biggest part the Feeler SVW-4225 can take?

By the table, a part up to 4,000 × 2,000 mm (157.5 × 78.7 in) in plan and 15 ton including fixtures, within 4,200 mm of X travel and 800 mm of Z, or 1,000 mm with the bracketed option. The Y travel is not listed on this page.

02 What should be checked before installation?

Machine weight, floor space, foundation requirements and connected power. None of these is in the series table, and for a gantry with a 4,000 mm table they shape the building work. Request the layout and foundation drawings from Feeler.

03 Is there anything larger in the SVW series?

No. The SVW-4225 is the last column. For longer or wider tables Feeler lists the FDM series separately, starting with the FDM-3228 at a table width of 2,600 mm.

04 Which spindle does it use?

A fully geared spindle with a two-speed gearbox, 6,000 rpm maximum, on a BT/DIN/CAT 50 taper. Feeler says the gearbox gives high-torque output at low speed for heavy cutting. A bracketed alternative offers 8,000-15,000 rpm with #40.
