Ecoca VL-600 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Ecoca VL-600 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Ecoca or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Ecoca VL-600 is the smallest vertical machining center Ecoca lists: 600 mm (23.6 in) of X travel, a 700 x 450 mm (27.6 x 17.7 in) table and a BT-40 spindle running to 8,000 rpm through a belt drive. The VL series runs on linear guideways, and all three axes rapid at 24 m/min, written in the table as 24/24/24 m/min (945/945/945 ipm).

It is a machine for small parts made quickly. The table carries 300 kg (661 lb), enough for a vise or two and the workpieces in them, and the armless tool changer holds 16 tools. Z travel is 480 mm (18.9 in). The spindle motor is listed as 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp).

One figure deserves a second look. Ecoca prints Y travel as 510 mm (20.1 in), which is more than the 450 mm (17.7 in) depth of the table and more than the 450 mm (17.7 in) of Y on the larger VL-800. The figures are reproduced here as published. If full Y stroke matters to the job, confirm it with Ecoca before relying on it.

An armless changer swaps tools by moving the magazine to the spindle, with no transfer arm. It is mechanically simple, but tool changes are slower than with an arm type, so the VL-600 suits parts with modest tool counts more than jobs with a change every few seconds. Ecoca describes the structure as supported by heavy-duty linear guideways, with preloaded and pre-tensioned precision ball screws on the 3 axes. At 3,300 kg (7,275 lb) it needs little floor.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 24/24/24 m/min (945/945/945 ipm) rapid traverse on linear guideways
  • 8,000 rpm BT-40 belt-drive spindle with an 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor
  • Compact: 3,300 kg (7,275 lb) with a 700 x 450 mm (27.6 x 17.7 in) table
  • Preloaded and pre-tensioned ball screws on all 3 axes, per Ecoca
  • Guideway cover, chip enclosure, cutting air blast and coolant system are standard

Limitations

  • Table load is limited to 300 kg (661 lb)
  • Armless tool changer with 16 tools; no arm-type changer is listed
  • Belt-drive spindle tops out at 8,000 rpm, which limits small-tool work in aluminium
  • The published Y travel of 510 mm (20.1 in) exceeds the table depth and should be confirmed

Best For

Small prismatic parts held in one or two vises General job-shop milling, drilling and tapping in steel and aluminium Workshops with limited floor space and light parts

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels of the Ecoca VL-600?

Ecoca lists X/Y/Z travel as 600 mm (23.6 in), 510 mm (20.1 in) and 480 mm (18.9 in). The table measures 700 x 450 mm (27.6 x 17.7 in). The Y figure is larger than the table depth, so check it with Ecoca if the job depends on it.

02 What spindle does the VL-600 have?

A BT-40 taper spindle driven by belt, with a top speed of 8,000 rpm and a spindle motor listed as 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp). Ecoca's table shows no other spindle speed for the VL series.

03 How many tools does the VL-600 hold?

16, in an armless tool changer. An armless changer brings the magazine to the spindle to exchange tools. Ecoca does not publish tool change time or maximum tool size for the model.

04 How does the VL-600 compare with the VL-800?

The VL-800 has 800 mm (31.5 in) of X travel, an 860 x 450 mm (33.9 x 17.7 in) table and a 500 kg (1,102 lb) table load, and weighs 4,000 kg (8,818 lb). The VL-600 has 600 mm (23.6 in) of X, a 300 kg (661 lb) load and weighs 3,300 kg (7,275 lb). Spindle, rapids and tool capacity match.
