Overview
The Ermak Fibermak SL 4x2 is the largest side loading fiber laser that Ermak builds with two exchange pallets. It cuts sheets of 4,000 x 2,000 mm (157.5 x 78.7 in), and each pallet carries 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), the highest two-pallet load in the SL table.
Big sheets pay off in nesting. Large parts fit whole, and small parts leave less skeleton per kilogram cut. The gantry that spans the 2,050 mm Y travel still accelerates at 2.5 G, and the combined axis speed is 141 m/min.
On the floor the machine is 6,900 mm long, the same length as the Fibermak SL 3x1.5, and 5,322 mm wide. In other words the extra sheet size is taken up mostly in width. Weight is 21,000 kg (46,296 lb).
A pallet change takes 30 s. Beyond this size Ermak switches the SL to an automatic single-pallet arrangement, so buyers who want to load one pallet while the other is being cut should note that this is the last model that allows it.
Resonators run from 2,000 W to 30,000 W. At 6,000 W the table gives 25 mm in mild steel, 15 mm in stainless steel and 12 mm in aluminum. Assist gases are oxygen for steel and nitrogen or dry air for stainless steel and aluminum.
