We do not have a price for the Ermak Thunderbird Competition 3x1.5 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Ermak's lowest-cost flatbed fiber laser is the Ermak Thunderbird Competition 3x1.5. It keeps the 3,000 x 1,500 mm (118.1 x 59.1 in) cutting area and two-pallet layout of the Thunderbird 3x1.5 and changes the components around them.
Three substitutions define the machine. The laser source is a MAX unit, the cutting head is from BOCHU and the control is FSCUT. On the Thunderbird 3x1.5 the control is Beckhoff. The head model follows the power: a BLT310 up to 4,000 W, a BLT421S at 6,000 W and H-series heads from 12,000 W upward.
Acceleration is 0.8 G. Axis speeds are 75 m/min on a single axis and 106 m/min resultant, and the accuracy figures are ±0.055 mm/m for positioning and ±0.032 mm for repeatability. Z travel is 250 mm (9.8 in), and the pallets change in 15 s.
Seven power levels are listed, from 2,000 W to 30,000 W. Cutting capacity in mild steel rises from 16 mm to 50 mm across that range. The laser wavelength is 1080 ± 10 nm and the pulse frequency 10 kHz.
At 6,500 kg (14,330 lb) the machine is lighter than its sibling, on the same 9,250 x 4,500 x 2,200 mm outline. The operator works at a 21.5-inch touch screen.
